Hello and a warm welcome to you lovely lot. I'm about to brew a fresh pot of tea and there are plenty of goodies for us to munch on...grin

Oldgreymare Thu 09-Oct-14 18:59:09

Phew, trying to catch up and reading backwards thro' the posts, it's making me dizzy so have given up for the mo'.
The jacket sounds great Soop I must give e-bay a go (another reason to procrastinate when I should be getting ready for my sisters to visit).
Today I bought a Caithness glass paperweight, the design is called 'Wheel of fortune' ...... will try the lottery on Sat, you never know (Paperweight cost £4 form a charity stall.......bargain, I think)

Agus Thu 09-Oct-14 19:44:19

Pleased for MacS that both procedures were done in the one visit and you are both spared another treck into Campbelltown. Having lunch was a well deserved treat before the drive home too.

Was pretty sure you wouldn't be disappointed with your jacket. I can hear in your post how thrilled you are with it grin. Good luck with your search for a hat and camisole and look forward of a pic of you wearing the whole ensemble. Oo la la wink

Glad you made it back in one piece down that, as you say, very pretty road to Oban, but also very dodgy! Good that both procedures are done with, one less hairy drive. And really looking forward to seeing your dress rehearsal when all your outfit comes together! I must look on ebay, we`re putting something on there for sale very soon.

kittylester Fri 10-Oct-14 07:31:04

Glad you got back safely, soop. Keep us posted! flowers

The jacket is fabulous soop, isn't eBay terrific? I've had some great buys from there, I've also sold lots but never for much money.

I'm off to Edinburgh today to see the John Byrne exhibition. Hope everyone has a peaceful day. sunshine

Teetime Fri 10-Oct-14 09:31:13

Hello soop and everyone. So glad the hospital trip went well. I've been picturing you on the journey and Oban in particular where we have ben several times and just love it- also Campbeltown. I cant find the posting where you give the reference number for the jacket and I expect its gone now- can we have a picture of you in in your wedding finery it sounds lovely.. My GD is getting married in 2016 so plenty of time to get some weight off but I think my outfit is going to be very plain - suits me better - wonder if I can afford a nice Armani Suit- OK wondering over- more likely to be JL at best.

I have to confess - I don't like cats!!!! Sorry but they make me wheeze and come out in a rash and youngest DD is terribly allergic - her eyes swell right up and almost close and she wheezes like a train- but she does like cats. My sister had a cat called Scampi which used to see me come over to the sofa where I was sitting and dig its claws in my leg-no-one else just me she thought it was hilarious and said it knew I didn't like it - didn't like it- it nearly became the first cat in space. Anyway I know that people love their cats and their look cute when their asleep.
Hope everyone here is feeling good today- heres a glass for kittys anniversary wine xxxx

soop, I'm so pleased to hear that they did both procedures on the same day and that you had what turned out to be a pleasant day out in Oban. It's lovely there when the weather is bright and clear. The jacket's arrival certainly made your day. You are clever, finding such a wonderful bargain - exactly what you wanted. Which reminds me, I need to replace my ageing red handbag, originally an Ebay bargain.

soop Fri 10-Oct-14 13:53:37

Here I am again. I cannot be away from you lot for too long. Why? Simples...you are all super special Granspals. flowers

You will have travelled that road number...I was tense throughout the journey and gave myself a mild headache. It is a miracle that not more young road racer types come to grief on it. What I hate is having some bod tailgate me. White van drivers...beware!

Thank you dear kitty sunshine

We went to the village hall for the annual flu jab this morning. Honest to goodness you would think that it was party time. Not only do we have the jab but we are treated to refreshments. It's one way of spending far too long blethering. wink

Teetime I have included a photo of the jacket in my album. I believe that it is in 6th place. Being "Vintage" it is slightly too large on the shoulders. I do know of a good dress maker who will be able to alter it for me. The length and bust and waist measurement is perfect.
Cats do have an uncanny tendency to head for the lap of a none-cat-lover. They seem believe that they are very important [irresistible] creatures.

baubles Enjoy your day in Edinburgh. It is our number one favourite city.
You are right about eBay. It is a buyer's market, methinks. It can also be addictive. I can spend far too long trawling for "just the thing..." Harmless fun in my opinion. grin

anno I found a super red leather bag on eBay. It cost me less than £5 and it is still my favourite.

Oldgreymare I "won" a superb paperweight on eBay. It cost more than your Caithness bargain. I bet you were chuffed to discover your bargain. Well done!

Agus Some of the hats are stunning on eBay. Why is it that I always seem to select the top priced chapeaus. I believe that the simpler, less fussy hats are the priciest. No way will I fall in to the trap of paying a huge sum for a hat that I may not wear again. The one that I wore for my son's wedding [he treated me to it] was bespoke. It is just a wee bit over the top for next year's celebration. I'm wanting something chic but not ostentatious.

jamsidedown your name always puts a smile on my face. x

The sun is shining. I'm about to hang some washing out to dry. A lady pheasant is helping the birds to clear up the fallen seed. She will make a dash for a hidey hole when I appear. Rory seems bemused. hmm He's wearing the usual expression but I can tell...

I've brought a few bottles of bubbly in to celebrate our 44th anniversary. Heaven knows where the time has gone and how we've managed to cling on this long. confused But he is still the very best thing in my life so please help yourselves and celebrate with us! wine

kitty and your dear husband, hearty congratulations on your 44th anniversary. I shall certainly raise a glass of cheer to you. Your loving tribute to your husband says it all...sunshine flowers wine cupcake

anno you are forgiven. I blame the wine! Our pals have been with us for a short catch-up. We started off with tea and biscuits and then a wee dram was mentioned. They have the uncanny knack of making the most ordinary occasion seem extra special. grin

Happy anniversary kitty and Mrkitty wine flowers

Agus Fri 10-Oct-14 18:29:31

It's always the way soop, liking the most expensive item but probably a sign of good taste. grinI think a small chic hat would go perfectly with your outfit. Happy hunting. I love hats and think my favourite style has to be a cloche.

Is it your and Macs's inFLUence that turned a flu jab session into a hoolie? wink

Enjoying a glass of champers courtesy of Mr & Mrs kitty. Happy Anniversary to you both and many more. Slainte flowers

Hi everyone, happies! smile I posted this link on another thread this morning but am enjoying it so much and it reminded me of the kitchen, so here it is for all the Kitcheners' too (so I can listen to it again). The mellifluous tones of Mr Elvis Aaron Presley singing "I Think I'm Going to Like it Here":

flowers and congrats Nellie and the Kitty-couple.

kittylester Sat 11-Oct-14 11:35:41

Thank you GK and thanks for the video too!

soop Sat 11-Oct-14 11:35:42

Nellie Thank you for sharing the family's happy news. Keeping such a secret under one's bonnet is darned hard work. Out with the bubbly [again] and we Kitcheners will raise a toast to baby Nellie [thanks for the name jamsidedown]...it makes me smile

Pete the postie delivered a nice surprise this morning. A watercolour painting of Kilchurn Castle, Loch Awe, sold in the Archway gallery to a couple on holiday from Surrey. Over the past few years I've sold some of my work from the same gallery, but many months can pass between sales. I'm chuffed! The proceeds will go into the Torben travel fund box.

It is another lovely day. The colours of the leaves and bracken are mouth-wateringly sumptuous. There is barely a breeze. MacS thinks that he should clean the windows. My late mother had a "thing" about window cleaning. She was never happier than when she was perched on a step ladder with a chamois leather in her hand.

Off to brew the coffee. I hope that you all have a peaceful and pleasant Saturday. x

Bella (((hugs)))
