Come to think of it Soop how did you come to choose that as your user name? I am half believing it's what you are called now and I have been known to write down soop instead of soup.

Some good news DD2 has an interview on Friday which is nearer her home and not as pressured as her current job- also she wont have to drive all over the North east anymore and be able to spend more time with her son and selfishly I might get to see her more often. Fingers crossed.

I too send very best wishes to the Soops and like the phrase "quiet contentment". My DD and SiL should have been celebrating their 23rd anniversary this month but have decided to end their marriage. It is amicable (at present,but who knows?) and they are both nearly 50 so I just hope they have done the right thing. DH and I have clocked up 56 years and both our children's marriages have ended!! What did we do wrong?.

Annsixty I wonder that too when looking at my offsprings' current domestic arrangements. My personal theory is that they live in different times and are acting accordingly. I also have a sneaking suspicion that girls especially will not put up with things in a relationship that my generation took for granted. Or perhaps that says more about me?

What's a girl to say except...Many heartfelt thanks to each and every one of my Granspals. I'm aboot to leave for the celebratory lunch [need to smarten up first]. annsixty I got divorced after a short marriage in my 20's. I was the only divorcee at work. At my last job when I retired I was one of the few married women - how times have changed.

Rory will be confused- I believe that chicken is on the menu for his evening meal today whereas he normally has it as a treat on Saturdays. He is a lucky young man.

Yes jam "times they are a-changing" and we old ones are having to learn to adapt and accept.

Just heard the sad news that very good friend of mine has discovered that her husband has someone else and they have split up. we went to their wedding just five short years ago and we are very sad for her she adored him. He had a very high powered job that took him all over the world while she stayed at home and it seems he met someone at work. No children involved which was a great sadness to them both but they have dogs and are very active in animal welfare especially marine life. sad thing to happen to nice people.

teeters Bursts through the kitchen door wearing a very silly ...ahoy there my darlin's. I have been wined and dined. You will never guess...but...we didn't choose the usual treat of fish, chips and mushy peas after all. bags will be stunned! We decided to go mad and have fish bake instead. It was delicious and so filling that I could not manage to as much as read the pudding menu, let alone select and eat one. We are having bread and butter pudding and dollops of yellow custard for supper instead.

Twenty six years ago the sun was shining...and so it is today. Twenty six years ago I was that nervous that I had been prescribed a Valium tablet to calm me down. I was anxious not to make a "mistake"...I feared my own judgement...all such nonsense. MacS has been a darling husband. He is supportive and kind and thoroughly decent. I am such a lucky lady and tell him so almost every day.

Soutra Little Pippa needs lots of nourishment. Give her a few more weeks [yawn] and she'll begin to sleep through the night. Oh that feeling that one would give a king's ransom for a solid eight hours of deep sleep. However, as the saying goes - this too shall pass.

Teetime Fingers crossed for your daughter. We all value the precious time spent with family.

Gagagran such wise words. I'm sorry to hear that Mishap is suffering after her op. I guess that I was lucky. Both hip replacements went smoothly. Yes...the body feels sore and stiff but it isn't necessary to suffer agonising pain. Mishap can ask for suitably strong and effective painkillers.

number Rory snores , snuffles and squeaks in his sleep. At the moment he's sitting quietly on his door mat and watching the finches skitter around picking up fallen birdseed.

Soutra My DGS didn't get the idea of sleeping between meals for months. Many frequent feeds day and night.

He was a right grump until he was about four months old. I wondered if he would ever settle down but he did.

This was very unlike his mum and his uncle who fed and slept well from a early age.

At two DGS is now a really happy chappy.

Just having a glass of so I raise a toast to soop and her beloved MacSporran. I'm so glad you had a lovely day together. You deserve nothing but the best always

This morning we laid my lovely sister-in-law to rest. The huge church was packed which just goes to show how much she was loved. A quiet, gentle soul who never wanted to be a trouble to anyone. DH is absolutely distraught. Having lost a sister myself, I know a little of what he is feeling, although he has the added trauma of battling cancer himself, and a younger sister similarly stricken

Thanks to you all, again, for thinking of us. You are all such wonderfully kind kitcheners

soop, I wasn't away long - just a long weekend in Dundee visiting my sister and BiL. Weather was perfect and I was introduced to two really good restaurants. So much for reducing my intake. Met up with nephew, wife and delightful wee boys, 2 and almost 5. Also a performance of Verdi's Macbeth which was beautifully performed by an offshoot of Scottish Opera that goes around putting on operas on a shoestring with a limited cast and only a piano for accompaniment - what a hard-working pianist!

Bella words can't really convey feelings, but please know that I am so very sorry for all you and your DH and family are going through at the moment for you too

Bella I also am so sorry that your family are going through so many traumas at once. It is 10 times worse for your DH as he is so low because of his medical problems. from me for DH.

I know that it is so difficult but try to look after yourself. It will be a pleasant change when you and DH meet up with Galen after her short time on the ocean waves. Yet more for yourself.

Bellasnana and papa - for you and in memory of your dear sister. I hope that in time the happy memories will help to overcome the sadness and loss you will be feeling at the moment.

My contribution tonight is smoked salmon and cream cheese mini quiches. I was making a batch for our Thursday group tomorrow night as we are hosting a group from a nearby village and between you and me, well.......competitive doesn't come close! So I made 24 then we had a few for lunch so I made another batch , then we nibbled a few more so I have made a third batch and they don't deserve so many, so help yourselves! I think they would go rather well with a cheeky ittle prosecco so I hope they are still there tomorrow as it is much too late for a tincture - even to toast soop and macsporran
