I have been a member of GN now for about 2 years and I am sure that there was a lot more chat went on then. It seems much quieter now, am I right?

TriciaF Mon 15-Sept-14 16:08:30

I haven't been a member of the forum for long ( nearly a year - since poor Carol left us?)
I find the folks on here very kind and polite compared with some of the other forums I belong to.
Some seem to know eachother from elsewhere, but it doesn't matter!
One thing I would like to know is who is male and who is female?
OTOH - does it matter?

Elegran Mon 15-Sept-14 16:12:08

If you read their posts for a while it often becomes clear who is male and who is female. Without meeting them, though, you could be wrong!

Galen Mon 15-Sept-14 16:13:11

I'm female? I think, therefore I must be female!smile

Nonnie Mon 15-Sept-14 16:16:45

Galen smile well said.

whitewave (original poster), what kind of chat are you looking for? Do you means threads? Again, what sort of thing do you like? smile

rosesarered Mon 15-Sept-14 16:20:11

Hardly any men on here are there? Not surprised though, it's called Gransnet.

" Or, one might make a world shattering observation, only for it to be ignored! - or made by someone else later and applauded!" This happens to me all the time - my words of infinite wisdom fall through the net and lie unappreciated! How can I cope with this!!??.....by not minding and assuming that that not everyone reads every bit of every thread.

I like a bot of debate, and do not find it uncomfortable that I might be disagreed with - that's what it is about.

I like the chat - and the support that I have received at various times has been tremendous.

I have not noticed any cliques - maybe I am a bit think, but the end result is that there is no problem for me!

This is not real life - it is a forum with its good bits and bad - bit like life really. Take the good and ignore the bad.

whitewave Mon 15-Sept-14 16:23:45

jing no I don't mean particular threads are missing I mean that there is less conversation in general than there used to be. I seem to remember chatting away about something almost along the line of an actual conversation with someone answering within a few seconds of your post if you get my meaning. In fact sometimes someone would answer before you could get your post in. I am just wondering if there are less grans or less interest or what?

Nonnie Mon 15-Sept-14 16:36:14

whitewave I think a lot of people come on for a while and then get bored and either leave or look less often. I don't spend as much time on here as I did at first or maybe my life has simply got busier? Been on a lot today but can go weeks without even looking.

feetlebaum Mon 15-Sept-14 16:58:09

@Rosesarered : it is a lonely furrow we chaps plough...

ffinnochio Mon 15-Sept-14 17:12:38

Mishap So often your posts offer views and opinions that I agree with smile, as I do with this latest one.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 15-Sept-14 17:28:31

Oh! Sigh! hmm

henetha Mon 15-Sept-14 17:43:30

The kindness amongst most GN's is marvellous when people are feeling down, depressed, or worried. And there is still plenty of interesting chat, I think.
There is the slight feeling of an 'inner circle' which is hard to break into, but I tend to blame myself for that and can see that most of my posts are too boring to comment on. I still enjoy reading it all anyway, but don't like it when people fall out and get snippy with each other. But then, it reflects real life I suppose. Neither real life nor GN are perfect.

kittylester Mon 15-Sept-14 17:48:59

Good post hen although I don't think your posts are boring! sunshine

glammanana Mon 15-Sept-14 18:09:42

So well put henetha I have always skirted around the edges and can only say I have been commented once or twice on my comments but hey-ho if everyone agreed with everything I had to say it would be a boring old world, one thing is you couldn't find a better group of ladies when there is an emergency or someone has a problem thats when GN comes into its own.

Mishap Mon 15-Sept-14 18:13:33

Oh don't sigh jingle - apparently the more you sigh the shorter your life!! - or so I am told.

Casawan Mon 15-Sept-14 18:14:53

HollyDaze - thank you smile.

glassortwo Mon 15-Sept-14 18:15:55

glamma There is no conversation more boring than the one where everybody agrees.

Ana Mon 15-Sept-14 18:18:43

I agree, glass! grin

ffinnochio Mon 15-Sept-14 18:21:53

Thanks for your sigh, Jings #crushed.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 15-Sept-14 18:25:37

No you're not! hmm grin

ffinnochio Mon 15-Sept-14 18:27:26

grin

durhamjen Mon 15-Sept-14 18:28:59

I don't like it when you sigh, jings. It confuses me, as I never know what you are sighing at or for.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 15-Sept-14 18:37:00

grin (perhaps it's just as well shock)

Ana Mon 15-Sept-14 18:44:42

Keep 'em guessing, jingl! grin
