I've posted an apology to Jingle on that thread. I'm sorry jing, for what must have felt like insensitivity, flowers

Yes, Ana, I did miss Jingle's post about her mother's suicide on another thread.

I think it has been a sensitive discussion and sensitively handled by those who have posted.

I am sorry for your loss as a 19 year old, and all credit to you for picking yourself up and making a good life; not many could have done this. I am sure that it still comes back to you and must be hard to bear - it is hard to find the courage to move in from such tragedies, as many of us will know.

In the main I think that posters on GNet do bear in mind that we do not know what others have been through.

Much love to all, but I'm bowing out of this one. flowers

There were others, Iam64, and perhaps you also missed jingl's post regarding the suicide of her mother on the other thread?

Iam64 Thu 14-Aug-14 17:23:50

confused Unless I've missed something, the only person I saw describing suicide as selfish was Jing. I read many moving posts from gransnetters with personal experience of suicidal thoughts, loved ones who committed suicide, and acknowledging personal struggles with depression.

Should those posters who quite rightly are proud of their GC's results today not have posted in case they upset others who have less academic GC? Of course not.

jingle unless I am missing something, I don't see any argument. I see thoughtful discussion and consideration among adults.

Of course I have no knowledge of what has gone on in other people's lives, just as other people don't know what has gone on in my life.

annsixty Thu 14-Aug-14 14:57:36

I seldom post now as we are getting to the point where we will be censoring our thoughts and opinions before we express them as someone will always be affected. Is this what the majority want?

Ana Thu 14-Aug-14 14:57:35

Yes, it was.

Tegan Thu 14-Aug-14 14:42:47

I'm very confused by this accusation jingle as [as phoenix has said] you were the first person [to my knowledge] to make the comment about it being 'selfish'. Which I thought, at the time, was rather insensitive.

Soutra Thu 14-Aug-14 14:26:02

Can I just point out that some of us wrote from a personal perspective so if you can see to read from the dizzy heights of your high horse, look again at what we said

Anne58 Thu 14-Aug-14 14:03:25

But jingl on another thread you posted that you thought suicide is selfish. (I'm not being confrontational, just saying.)

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 14-Aug-14 13:44:17

Just when did compassion die?

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 14-Aug-14 13:42:28

I have just seen all the argumentative posts about suicide.

Why?!!!

Have you no real feelings? You don't know what has gone on in other people's lives.

I am absolutely flabbergasted. and disgusted.

There are some things you don';t need to argue about.
