I wear size sevens and I am only5' 1"

I've been a 7 all my adult life, had my feet re-measured earlier this year (new walking boots) and am now in size 8. I use orthotics, as my fleet are now so flat, so don't know if that has made the difference. Anyway, I'm more comfortable for sure. I live in good quality walking trainers or shoes, and only wear ordinary shoes if I'm not walking more than across a floor.

sparkygran, have you lost weight perhaps. I know when I've lost weight my shoe size has gone down by half a size.

This is a most interesting thread for most of my life I was a 3.5-4 size but now I sometimes have to buy a size 3 my feet are the only part of me that is diminishing!!!

Yes Hotter are excellent and do half sizes. They are not cheap but they do have sales if you et them to send you one of their booklets, offers come fairly regularly.

It sounds as if you need wider shoes, try Hotter. They are slightly wider at the front, but you can also get extra wide. I bought one normal width pair from them yesterday, after I went through the toes of my lovely slippers I knew it was time to stop squishing my feet. The relief was huge. In fact I am sitting here wearing my new shoes instead of my lovely ballerina slippers!

I'm still around the same size depending on the manufacturer a 4-41/2 or a 37 However I'm having terrible trouble with my feet. It's such a misery. I feel as if the top of my toes constantly rub on my shoes. I'm always buying shoes in the hope of some relief. I have no idea what's going on. Apart from the fact i'v put on a good 2 oh alright it might be 3 stoneblush so my poor little feet are struggling to carry all this fat around. I have achy ankles I expect it's for the same reason. Shame me into dieting someone please.

My feet have just decided to be a size 6, too. I used to be a 4, and size 6 looks huge to me. Size 5.5 is fine if they are wide enough, but even so... I had to buy three larger pairs of shoes yesterday, so am feeling quite miffed about it!

Sadly passed away - but was able to 'repay' her in her old age by helping her as much as I could- and then visiting as Alzheimers set in. Our whole family owes her such a debt of gratitude.

God bless Betty , are you still in touch ?

Nonu. our second daughter was born early October, so I was very pregnant all Summer, and with a toddler had to do move from Staffs to East Leics all on my own- as OH was already working there, and the house we'd bought fell through at last minute!

Thank Goodness our new next door neighbour turned out to be an Angel and took me and the kids under her wonderful wings- bless you Betty.

Mine were 6 1/2 and are now 7 1/2 or even 8 in some makes!

Ana Tue 29-Jul-14 18:36:17

I must be odd. My feet are still a perfect size 6!

Nonu Tue 29-Jul-14 18:35:22

granjura how I remember "75 my twins were born in the February.

That Summer was SO HOT I had a great deal of difficulty keeping them cool , as they were so very young !

My older daughter , well, by 19 months, coped with it quite well!!

I went up a size after my second pregnancy- 2 very hot Summer (1975 and
76) and as we were quite broke, didn't want to spend momey on decent supportive sandals and just wore flip-flops most of the time. Feet collapsed and I went up 1 size- and it was in my mid 20s.

I`ve put on weight now, but not so much back then.

Nonu Tue 29-Jul-14 17:31:43

However, if you haven't put on weight, just ignore my last post !!
wink wink

I am of the opinion that as you put on weight your feet SPREAD.

Suppose to balance you, Mother Nature is a very crafty ole gal.

Heaven knows what size I am now the surgeon has hacked on of my feet about - it looks like someone has stamped on a pound of sausages.

grannyactivist Tue 29-Jul-14 17:01:35

I also think that sizing is no longer quite as standardised as it was. I am a 6, 61/2 or 7 nowadays, when previously I was a 6.
Oh yes, except for when I bought a pair of boots in Debenhams last year and discovered I was a size 9! (American sizing, but no signs alerting one to that fact so there we were, a plethora of Cinderella's convinced we'd become ugly sisters! hmm

rosesarered Tue 29-Jul-14 16:32:16

Same as Number for me too. Was a size 4 when married, went up to a 5 by the time I was 30 and by 40 was in a size 6, and still in size 6 now.Feet do spread!

numberplease Tue 29-Jul-14 16:20:32

All my adult life, from my early teens till I was 33, I took a normal width size 4. Then I started work in a warehouse, packing stuff to go to shops, on my feet all day on stone floors, and within a few weeks I needed a wide fitting 5. By the time I was 50 I was taking a 6, still do, hope my feet don`t grow anymore!

Grannyknot Tue 29-Jul-14 15:15:47

All my adult life I've been a size 5 shoe - UK size 38. I have narrow feet with straight toes. So I have always bought a size 5 - obviously will try them on in the shop but never had any problems finding shoes that fit me and that I like. (Flat and not pointy).

But in recent years, I've found myself flummoxed by sore feet, shoes that are too tight, sore toes for no apparent reason. At the same time I seem to have lost "flesh" on my feet (but not the rest of my body) - my daughter says I have feet "like a little mouse". And I blame the fact that my poor feet are often sore all over on the fact that they no longer have sufficient padding.

Half sizes are impossible to find nowadays, so for my latest purchase I decided to buy a size 6 and it is like walking on air and all my problems have vanished.

Have the bones in my feet spread from being walked on for 65 years or what is going on? Anyone else have this?
