how to complain about a Company on Twitter? Is it still effective when you only have three followers, and two of those are complete strangers and you don't know where they popped up from? confused

I think I might have done it wrong. blush

...and now I want to crawl under a stone and hide.

Oh dear jingl.....care to share and see if we can help?

Elegran Tue 15-Jul-14 13:33:25

If you put @thecompanytwittername into the tweet, a copy will go to the company.

Have another go. If they get both - twice as good!

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 15-Jul-14 13:37:59

Well, on the company's twitter page there is a a little box that says "Tweet @ blah (company's name) So I used that. The tweet has come up on my page, but I can't see it (the tweet I made) on theirs.

I don't think I understand Twitter. I only ever read it. hmm

Don't worry jings you are not alone! smile
I think you've done it right, but it's bags you should ask, she's an expert imo!

Oh, it's nothing much really granny-a. I made a booking online for a short break in a holiday cottage. I just noticed today, when I came across their confirmation, that I had booked it for September 2015 (!) instead of for this year! I rang them and they changed it immediately, and charged me £26 for doing so! It took them all of three or four minutes make the change. No paperwork involved or anything. hmm

Just seems like money for old rope.

It is really good if you complain on their facebook page. DH was assaulted by a train guard on 25th June, he emailed and got an automated response saying they would get back to him in 5 days. Yesterday he sent a chaser email and I complained on their Fb page. He is still waiting and I have had quite a long conversation with someone on Fb.

Let's not get onto what happened, this thread is about complaining.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 15-Jul-14 13:53:12

shock My complaint pales to insignificance compared to that!

I don't really understand Twitter and Facebook but when I was having problems with my Rayburn I emailed the company to see if they had any suggestions - no reply. I put it on their Facebook page and immediately received a reply with a phone number to ring for further help! (Rayburn now fixed!grin)

Elegran Tue 15-Jul-14 15:44:33

You won't see it on their tweets, Jings but they will have an email that says "Jings mentioned you in a tweet" and they can see what it says. I think that it appears on the tweets of everyone who follows them, but I am not sure of that. Certainly a post on their Facebook page is seen by everyone who looks at it, so that is a way to go.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 15-Jul-14 15:53:06

Oh! That is very good then! smile #thattoldem

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 15-Jul-14 19:40:22

OMG! I've had a tweet from them!

I'm a bit scared now. I don't know why.

Ooh heck! shock

thatbags Tue 15-Jul-14 20:49:43

Can't imagine you being scared, somehow, jings.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 15-Jul-14 20:58:10

But - it's out there on the World Wide Web!

Yes, I know Gransnet is too. But - Twitter!!! People read that. shock

However! - I might get my twentysix quid back! Good eh?

MiniMouse Wed 16-Jul-14 11:22:18

I love the idea that GN is just pretend Jing It's much more snug & safe than Twitter, isn't it?! wink

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Jul-14 13:09:15

Yes. I think so...

Anyway, IT WORKED! Got my 26 quid knocked off my "balance owing".

self satisfied smile

Ana Wed 16-Jul-14 13:11:03

Didn't you complain at the time about the extra charge, jingl?

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 16-Jul-14 14:03:14

Yes, of course. I told her-on-the-phone I didn't think much of it. But "Rules is Rules". hmm And that's where Twitter came in handy. Ok? grin

Ana Wed 16-Jul-14 14:14:56

Just wondered...

grannyactivist Wed 16-Jul-14 14:18:23

Good result jingl - £26 was definitely a case of overcharging for a simple transaction.
