Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts. We lost our other sister eight years ago now, so I ought to be more prepared, but it does not get any easier.
Think of me today as I plough my way through four litres of the ghastly stuff that cleans one out in preparation for tomorrow's colonoscopy. Have so far struggled through the first litre. Why does it have to taste so foul?
Oh well, this too shall pass
Lona I'm glad things are a little better for you and hope you will continue to feel more upbeat
Right, off to mix up the second litre of this stuff Wish me luck
Welcome to the kitchen, Lindylooby
I popped my head around the kitchen door and hey presto...my lovely bunch of Granspal Kitcheners are, as always, supporting each other through some deeply disturbing personal trials and tribulations.
Bellasnana There is nothing more that I can add to the loving messages that are winging their way to Malta. I would so love to be able to take some of your pain away...as would we all. The moment is all that matters...the love that you share with your family will give you the strength to continue to be supportive one moment at a time. You are doing your best to remain strong and by gum, my admiration for you knows no bounds. You are a remarkable woman. In spirit, we are with you.
suebailey In next to no time you should be dancing on air...or thereabouts.
[Bella] you are in my thoughts with your dh and the future that he is worrying about, my dh also was the kind that just solved every problem that came up, just assure your husband that he is special and will livevon in his families memories. Make some great memories together, video the fun times and treasure every moment.
Good wishes to all gns who have unwell doh's, or any other of the myriad of problems that seem to be places in our granny laps.......nice to know our families think we can be the strong ones.
suebailey Wearing orthotics is the best thing I could ever have done for my feet.
Bella You're in my thoughts. I'm sure the time you spend with your sister will be full of love and affection.
Can I have some cake now please and some brandy in my coffee - had to press my feet into sponge - no not Victoria Sponge- it brought home to me just how turned in my feet are - that's why they hurt I suppose.
bella I have only just started to look in at the kitchen and have only read a few posts so far but I would like to say how sorry I am to hear what your going through. Good wishes for you.
And from me Bella
All you can do is enjoy the good moments and store them in your mind for later in life
Sending you lots of positive (((vibes))), Bellasnana. My lovely sister was very poorly and we knew she wouldn't be around for much longer, but from this sad and distressing situation we had some special moments together and felt we had shared and said all we wanted to. That was a couple of years ago and she's frequently there in my thoughts and the memories the family share. Look after yourself when you can, won't you?
Thanks kitty yes, I'm feeling a bit more 'up', as things have improved slightly
Put me down for a cupcake or two please, they sound yummy!
Just popped in to see how everyone is.
You said what I wanted to Lona - thank you.
I hope you are feeling better to?
Off to take DS1 for his botox
, then Sainsbury's - I do lead an exciting life. See you late. DD3 is making some sticky toffee cupcakes with buttercream and butterscotch sauce - I don't suppose anyone would like me to bring some in later, would you?
Soutra That was a nice post to Bella
Bella It will be so hard for you to see your sister, I'm sure many more tears will be shed.
I shall be thinking of you still
To all of you with loved ones who are going through hard times
Just going off to get my orthotics done today
That is the spirit Bellasnana but easier said than done! Thank goodness for the great strength to be drawn from soop's kitchen
Thank you dear Soutra. You have plenty to deal with yourself so I appreciate your kind words.
I think you have a point about DH being depressed about the future. I know he worries about how we will cope without him. He has always been so good at solving all our problems and I think it is frustrating for him that he has a problem which nobody can solve.
Yes, life can be a bitch. Much as I am longing to see my DS on Monday, she has already told me she thinks it will likely be the last time we see each other. She has terminal breast cancer which has now spread to a gland in her neck causing extreme pain on swallowing, and they have more or less run out of treatments for her. It is unbearable but we have to bear it whether we like it or not, I suppose.
No, you are not stupid. It is hard to realise that we are not the indestructible beings we have always imagined ourselves to be, but are mere mortals all in the same queue!
Like you, I try to find joy in the little things and I thank you and all the other Gransnetters who have been so supportive.
Anyway, cheers! or sahha! (Your health) as we say in Malta
So sorry to hear your DH is down Bellasnana - but of course no one can stay positive and upbeat 100% of the time and he and you deserve to be able to take the brave face off for a bit now and then. He may be exhausted or perhaps the sheer joy of having your DGD with you has made him feel depressed about what the future holds. On a rather trivial level I nearly reduced myself to tears when invigilating A level exams earlier in the summer as I mused on whether I will still be around when the DGC are of an age to sit their A levels - stupid woman- dwelling on what might or might not happen instead of enjoying the here and now.
I hope it was a phase and will pass as you may find it hard to be strong enough for both of you when he is having his treatment.
Life can be a bitch can't it?
However, thank you for the invitation to a
and wshing you joy when your family arrive on Monday
Glad to hear news of your day soop. You and MacS were very much on my mind all day. Like everyone else, I do hope the results will come soon and will be nothing to worry about. The waiting is awful
Had a busy day today. Visitors this am so DD2 made the most divine banana muffins with a sort of crunchy, brown sugary topping. Wish I could spirit some to you all as they were so good.
Been to the play park this afternoon with darling GD. Such a joy having her here. Her mum is a runner so keeps in practice while we babysit.
DH not too good. Very depressed indeed. I feel so sorry for him
Having a glass of
now, please join me as we have plenty in readiness for my sister and brother in law who arrive on Monday

soop it is because you love Rory so much.
Glad to hear that you are both back safe and sound. You will sleep well tonight.
soop and Soutra
and
, I think you both deserve a peaceful time for a while.
I'm just off out for a curry but I may stagger roll pop in later for a cuppa!
Glad both you soop and soutra are safely back with us. The whole ' up in the air' feeling must be horrid for both of you. How about a nice
and a freshly baked scone with lots of anything you'd like on it!
Take care.
Hear, hear echoing gratitude for what the NHS offers us. I know I moan about adminstrative cock mix ups but the bottom line is the expertise and care available to us for no extra cost.
Fingers crossed for positive results from macsporran's scan but I appreciate how frustrated you must have been not to have the whole caboodle out of the way, especially when such a long journey is involved. DH has now got a second course of anti-b's for what appears to be a chest infection (very wheezy and a crackly
) but with those and the IV Irn-Bru I hope he will perk up soon.
Hallo kitcheners - I have to go to the orthotics dept tomorrow to have horrible inserts made for my shoes as my feet are collapsing with arthritis - one foot already operated on and the other one waiting for me to pluck up courage as I didn't enjoy the experience. No more Manolos for me!!!
Hey Soop - Rory knows when he's on to a good thing, he ain't going nowhere
Good that you had a pleasant day for the trek to Oban, now you can both put your feet up this evening and await your next appointment.
