Dear Agus I am truly relieved to discover that our Kitcheners haven't wandered away never to return. I love you all. It matters not a jot that we messed up the forums...we are human...it's what we do from time to time.

Grannyknot I burst out laughter when I read about your day. Not because I'm taking the micky but because you have described everything so well and with humour. You are going to be extremely busy what with one thing and another. Isn't it just the way...you were treading water until today...now you are paddling furiously. Such excitement. Keep us updated please.

Galen Hancock's 'the blood doner' was one of his best. Such a funny man when acting. And equally sad in his private life.

Well, MacS will be returning to the surgery tomorrow. I'm hopeful that we are getting closer to a diagnosis. The previous GP took five different samples. The one that has come back as negative is for Lyme Disease. Doctor says that the time that has passed is definitely not beyond the pale. I'm guessing that four further samples are still growing [or not] a virus in the culture. What do I know? The spots on his head and face haven't shifted or diminished. The torso spots are very feint. The undercarriage is still extremely tender. The site of the original outbreak has scabbed over but there remains some inflammation.

Lona I love that particular saying. Hello rubysong thanks to Lona I shall join you in a little light refreshment. Although the sun is shining, it is blustery. Rory [the feral cat that was] doesn't do blustery. He's fast asleep on MacS's accommodating lap.

soop if you have a chesty cough, you need to see your GP asap because you have had joint replacements so need antibiotics.

Re MacSorran and his bloods, I agree with Galen, how much do they want? At this rate you will get a diagnosis around Christmas. I hope that he is not a rare blood group because at this rate it will be an exchange transfusion, for every litre removed, another is transfused. I would be inclined to ask if anybody as any idea about anything as the blisters on his face and head look so debilitating. You have been pleasant for too long.

What an exciting time you are having GK Good luck with the wedding/baby/house. You could have done without work calling you back. Will you be 'hands on' with doing up the house? We recently did one for DS2 to be our tenant. It didn't need much doing and he and his partner helped but it was still hard work.

Never my intention to actually close the kichen. I genuinely thought the old thread would be deleted when it reached 1000 posts and we needed to,open the new extension. I also thought a new thread needed a new title but now realise that we can keep,Soop's Kitcheners and I am pleased that this is the case. Didn't for a minute wish to open another venue. God, what a mess I have caused through ignorance of how to continue an old thread!

I hope I am making sense here as it was never my intention to upset or confuse any Granspals.

Right, I've run in here to collect my wits. (You're allowed to say "right" at my age). This is my day:

DIL is having a 'sweep' because baby is now 5 days overdue. I remember it as being damn painful when it was done to me way back in 1978 when my daughter was born. In fact I remember it as being "scrape me off the ceiling" sore (or maybe the doctor was just rough). But it worked - he did it at 12 and said "See you later" and she was born at 8 p.m. that night. So I'm over excited/panicking/feeling sorry all at the same time.

Daughter is getting married on Saturday and we have to decamp to Devon with a carload of stuff that has grown exponentially as the months wore on. She - who never asks anyone for anything - is being demanding and needier than I've ever known her to be. Family are arriving from far and wide and there are airport trips in the heat and snags with car hire.

I am supposed to be retired (well I am) but got called back into work that I retired from a week ago, to sort out something that "no one else could do". Finished that at 10 p.m. last night.

Husband announced a couple of weeks ago that he we are buying a fixer upper house (that I love and want to live there) but that it is a "business investment" and I'm not allowed to ask about moving there. That has all come through today. So we are broke. But we do have an investment.

kitty No, please don't go away. The cake sounds delicious. How thoughtful of you to allow us to have a wee taster. During my brief absence the 1000 message marker was flagged. Our kitcheners wanted to keep us all together. However, there was a bit of a kafuffle when it appeared that we had two venues. So, I hope that you'll all agree that is best for us to come here for refreshments and tender loving care.

moomin and Lona Yep! You are so right. The thing that I picked up and brought home with me is not at all friendly. My throat is wickedly sore and I have a noisy, chesty cough. It happens every time either MacS or I go some place "foreign".

No phone call yet from GP. Bah! Maybe later today. If not, we remain patient until Friday.

How does one bump, Kitty? I would hate our Granspals to be lost in the Gransnet forum maze.

Doctor phoned just this minute. She wants to take more blood. He's to return first thing tomorrow.

I'm just bumping this as I had to use the 'search' to find it?

Anyway, I've put the kettle on and brought some of DD3's trial wedding cake sponge - it's salted caramel and delicious but not what I call wedding cake.

If I'm in the wrong place please let me know because, as you know, I'm always looking at the wrong threads!

Crafting As you now know, Galen has been otherwise engaged with serious stuff. She is an extremely bright person...the type that is capable of studying [and understanding] 800 pages of important info'...I raise my virtual hat to her. Go, Galen, go!

It does seem a pity that the other meeting place for we kitcheners had to close. Sadly, many of our Granspals were a trifle confused and I, for one, didn't know whether I was coming or going.

It is a beautiful day. Nowhere near as hot as it is in London, but I prefer the air to be fresher. My ironing job seemed a bit of a slog this morning. I don't know for sure, yet, but I feel a bit ropey...as if I may have brought a bug home with me. I do hope not. MacS has enough to contend with. The results of the blood tests should be known very soon.

Been slaving over a hot tribunal and got another tomorrow 800 pages that have to read!

I'm a bit worried about Galen. Last seen this morning when we were looking for the new kitchen and not heard from since . Hope she isn't lost in some parallel universe . If she doesn't turn up soon I will have to get Angus and go looking for her ....mind you, I don't know where he is either!

Perhaps I'll just sit here with a nice salmon sandwich and glass of pimms. Thank you soop just what I need ......you don't happen to have anything stronger do you? It has been a very eventful day

A quiet life sounds delightful at the moment, Charleygirl! Not sure about sharing Tara's bed, I may start sneezing and she won't like that.

rosequartz of course you would be very welcome here. It is a very quiet life so if that is what you would like, feel free. The only problem is that I do not think that Tara would give up her bed easily, so provided you do not mind sharing, please feel free. The weather is expected to be 30C on Thursday so maybe you should come tomorrow.

It was very warm here this morning while I was changing beds, washing, cleaning bathrooms - then has gone cool and cloudy this afternoon when I thought that I could sit in the garden for an hour.

I found I was exhausted and have been flat on my bed with library book.

(I didn't say but i took stuff as promised to the charity shop this morning - and managed to take my library books and leave them there too! Just being scatty with cat missing......so had to ring up and then fetch them before going to the library - duh....very clever!)
