High time bags baked some flapjack goodies. I note that the last batch went far too quickly. I opened the cookie tin and was dismayed to find a pile of crunchy crumbs...own up...who scoffed the lot? I have my suspicions...

Just popped in and see that bags is upset so, I'll return the one you gave me (((hug))), and go and investigate.

Today I received in the post three lovely pictures of my beloved cats. Soop said they were rejects but they are gorgeous. HymnsElf will frame them and I shall remember happy purrs

I'm sending a bottle of London Pride up north to Bags to cheer her up and bottle of London Dry Gin to follow. It drowns out all sorrows

Reading other posts on here, I realise how lucky I am. Hugs all round to those who are dealing with the problems of loved ones or with problems of their own.

In fitting with the times, I made a batch of empire biscuits. My paternal gran was the best baker of these but I follow in her footsteps and make them for the love of the UK while we still have it.

What a very pleasant way to start the weekend.

I've just popped in to refresh the flowers with more cheery yellowness of bits and bobs from the garden, of this and that which autumn so often brings. Berries, leaves, hops and tall daisies.

Hope all will find it calming whilst munching, supping and chatting.

Well, look what goes on when you're missing for a few hours. Hope you're ok, bags. I've been out for daughter's birthday lunch with her, partner and grandchildren. Splashed with ice cream and caramel sauce when nearly 3 year old tried to sing 'supercalifrag......etc' an inch from my face

That made me laugh, when. Kids are good for the soul! Yes, I'm allright, thanks, especially after a dinner of chipolata sausages, small King Edward potatoes, carrot and beetroot chunks chucked into a stoneware pot in the oven for a couple of hours or three. There's a bit left if anyone's peckish. Still hot.

Oh goody, did you bring some birthday cake when?

No birthday cake, but we're surrounded by rather a lot of wedding cake here. I've been tasked with cutting manageable chunks for passing around, so I'm sure a few little pieces won't be missed. Help yourselves, folks.

Glad the kitchen has had its usual resrorative effect bags - what a storm in a teacup! When there are much better uses for tea and coffee cups

So much cake and food around that I am not sure that I should come in (must lose that extra stone!).

Reading the posts about the housing development, and unsuitable building, it never ceases to amaze me what does get passed and what does not!
I do remember one of my neighbours (since moved on) said that she came to complain most vociferously when our houses were being built, as she walked her dog here and came to pick blackberries! She decided there and then to put her name down for one of the houses and lived here happily for a number of years.
I think that the only blackberries left are the ones in our garden. When DH has picked some apples I will make everyone a blackberry and apple pie (but I will NOT have any myself! unless that stone has come off by then, of course).

Bella you must be quite hungry now so I am quite happy to leave all the cakes for you.
anno my MIL used to have some clotted cream on her breakfast porridge every morning. She lived to a very good age.

Budge over Bags looks like I'm for the naughty corner as I seem to have upset a "new" poster called nancyb by respondung to her post. Silly Soutra, better just stuff some cake in my mouth to prevent me from putting my foot in it . As bags has suggested though there are many more problems being faced(and bravely) in and around the kitchen to make a fuss about bruised egos.

Oh Dear! And the referendum thread is getting political too. Luckily, DH and I have a date taking eldest DGD (aged very nearly 6) shopping for 'a beautiful' dress and out for lunch.
