Soops kitcheners

Hello everyone, hope that things will start looking up for everyone soon.

It will be good to have your DH home again, Bellasnana, and hope he doesn't lose all his hair. It will thicken up again later (and could well be thicker than before).

MacS must be thoroughly fed up by now, but let us hope this fourth lot of antibiotics does the trick and gets on top of it. Trousers tucked into socks sounds a bit hot in this weather. I am sure the mouse has escaped Rory'g clutches by now.

Lona, I hope your friend will be able to access the services of a lymphodoema nurse specialist in her area; they can teach you how to alleviate the symptoms with gentle special massage and are very helpful.

I may well follow Rory and Tara's lead and go for a little lie down sit in the shade and cool off. It was far too hot for doing housework this morning and it was not very sensible of me to attempt to do some cleaning. I should just wear sunglasses indoors and then I won't see the cobwebs, dust and dirt lurking around.

Bellasnana Your dear husband will come home on Sunday. That is tomorrow. We'll be thinking special thoughts and sending special love to you both.

Lona and Crafting MacS may not drink alcohol during this latest course of antibiotics. However, he'll have completed the course in time to raise a glass of cheer on my birthday...which will be nice, as we're to have a meal at one of our favourite hotels [Cairnbarn] situated on the Crinan Canal.

Rory managed to bring a tiny mouse into the house this morning. It was perfectly fine [though scared witless] and dashed off to hide in the sitting room. We haven't seen or heard a squeak since. MacS is wandering around with his jeans tucked into his socks. I had to laugh. He looks so funny.

Galen how could you have left your iPad your daughters Mine is surgically attached . Sympathise about the iPhone though, I can't do a thing with mine. It keeps sending messages before I have finished what I want to say.

Soop can't believe MacS still doesn't know what is wrong. Really hope he feels better soon. Is he allowed to drink with the antibiotics? If so, here's one from me if not I will be forced to drink it myself and send him some instead.

Bellasnana I like the idea of a kitchener's badge. What would it look like do you think?

Just back from visiting DH. He looks a bit perkier today and says thank you for all your kind messages wishing him well. He won't be home until Sunday now, though.

I'm sorry MacS still has no diagnosis after all this time. It seems unbelievable in this day and age. I do hope he will soon be over it and back to normal.

Lona I was sorry to hear your dear friend has had another set-back. It doesn't seem fair when she has been doing so well.

Soutra dear friend, what's not to like about you brainwave...Yay! Not only would I make pots of dosh but I would most certainly share my fortune with all the kitcheners We could have a wild party and camp out on the beach opposite our home. We could have treats galore and all fall into our sleeping bags well and truly sizzle-sozzled at the crack of dawn.

Agus our thoughts exactly...We were proud to be "born-again" Scots.

Nellie Rory would most certainly contact the Campbeltown Cat Protection League [to complain] if he could only muster the strength to find the number in the directory. We were ten minutes late for his lunch. His face [only has the one expression] was very disapproving.

MacS saw the fourth doctor in the practice this morning. He's been prescribed a fourth course of antibiotics. He has also to have more bloods taken during next week. Doctor maintains that he could well have Lyme Disease [Borreliosis] and if so...it may take yet more time to pass before it is identified. He's to stop antihistamines.

Hope your DH is feeling the benefit of his treatment Soutra and you both have time to relax in this lovely sunshine.

Won't be too long now Bella until your DH is home again and hopefully benefitting too from his treatment. You must be exhausted with all the worry and running about just now and I hope once DH is home you can have a couple of days relaxing together. Forget the ironing etc.

DH and I enjoyed watching the opening ceremony in Glasgow, the city where we were born. No pomp, just simple typical Glasgow warm welcome to all. Failte!

Bella hopefully your DH will be home soon and yes, with luck he is not losing hair by the handful. It is good in a way that he and his sister are in the same hospital from the visiting point of view because I know from personal experience what it is like to try visiting eg parents in separate hospitals. We are all thinking of you

soop Tara was like Rory, lying outside, sleeping but enjoying the sunshine. When she had had enough she moved to just in front of the cat flap, folding over the door mat so that she lay on the smooth cooler side and slept. When she wanted more comfort, upstairs to a choice of beds. She is frightened of the fan so stays outside my bedroom during the night.

You could have mugs/teatowels/kitchen gloves printed with "Keep Calm - welcome to Soop's Kitchen" as I cannot fail to feel uplifted and up cheered by the posts on here! Honestly Soop - if you could bottle what goes on in (and comes out of) your "kitchen" and sell it, you'd be a millionnaire!!

Bella my sister-in-law lost all her hair with chemo but has it all back now. Hope you can both keep your spirits up. It's obvious from all the posts that the kitcheners are all rooting for you and anyone going through a difficult time at the moment.

Bella I often think of you and your family, you have such a load to bear.

My dear friend, (breast cancer, double mastectomy) has now developed lymphedoema in her hand and arm. She has been feeling on top of the world for the last couple of weeks, and this is such a blow to her.
Not the end of the world of course, but she has had so many things go wrong and has coped with such spirit.

bella when my sister was having her chemo, the lovely man in the next bed said he was starting to lose some hair. It went thinner around the hairline and he lost about a third but it was hard to tell. We saw him a year later and it had grown back ok. It's not always dramatic loss with handfuls falling out.

I hope you and your family can have some relaxation from this treatment and enjoy a bit of normality.

Another glorious day. If I could, I would help you lot with the ironing. After which, we could sit in the shade and slurp Pimms. Wouldn't that be luverly.

Rory looks totally relaxed. He is stretched full length on the cool slabs in the shady part of the garden. He won't budge until nigh on five o'clock. His built-in time-piece will then ring an internal wee bell...he'll lick his lips...yawn...get to his feet [extremely slowly] and pad his way through to the kitchen. When he reaches said kitchen he'll sit and stare at the fridge. I shall dice his chicken and he will whinge until it's placed in his bowl in the usual place. After which, he'll return to the garden for a well earned rest.

Bella You can only take one day at a time. I so admire the way in which you endeavour to cope. Keep talking to us. We hope to be of some small comfort to you.

Crafting Wow! I had no idea that we could use the Scottish wotsits. They are brilliant. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

Well, as for the opening ceremony, we both thoroughly enjoyed it. It was honest and simple and, we thought, entertaining. The Scottie dogs were perfect. I loved the way their little legs went at such a pace. I'm wondering how much will be raised for UNICEF. I haven't had a call to confirm the donation. Have any of you lot...such a very good idea on someone's part. A huge task for the bods that have yet to collate the info'.

How on earth did HM managed to stay cool in her posh outfit! She does the UK proud. Had to chuckle when there was a bit of a faf over recovering the message from the baton. I would have loved it had the queen read...3 pints of gold top and half a dozen eggs...and please close the gate.

Thank you Soutra, DH says he is feeling a bit better today but is upset that his hair seems to be falling out, even though that wasn't supposed to happen with his type of chemo.
His sister is downstairs in the same hospital having her first chemo so will be visiting him when hers is over.
My sister had her last chemo yesterday and will start radiotherapy on 12th August.
It does feel like a family curse, but I suppose it's just unfortunate that it has all happened at once.
Anyway, off to tackle the ironing now. Definitely putting the a/c on for that! I try to use it sparingly as our electricity bill is pretty hefty, but it is essential when slaving over a hot iron.

I wanted to watch it but got too tired....maybe I didn't miss much?

I was almost ashamed to be Scottish last night watching some but not all of the opening ceremony. All that was missing were fried Mars bars unless I fell asleep when they pranced around. The Scottish outfits were horrendous-what is wrong with tracksuit bottoms and tops? The rubbish they wore was a total waste of money. Alex Salmond was boasting that it only cost over 500 million to put it together whereas it cost 7 billion for London and I think that we could see the difference. I could not watch it to the end, I went to bed.

I do hope bellasnana's DH is feeling a bit better today it is so hard to watch a person's treatment causing more suffering and you have to hold on to the faith that it is all worth while.
I enjoyed last night's Games opening! Loved the Scottie dugs too and sincerely hope Glasgow gets the recognition it deserves for the beautiful, vibrant and friendly city it is. (Come in and have yer tea!)
