I've just realised that the marrow chutney is made from marrows from the garden not bone marrow! What an eejit!
I was thinking...mmm I bet that's tasty but tricky to make!

I've managed to get two lots of bedding washed and line dried in the sunshine, and defrosted the freezer. The door had been ajar for a good 12 hours but luckily it's not been long since I did it, so not a major job.

I have of course been having regular breaks!
All these rolls and chutneys sound delish

But the bread and butter pickle is not made from bread and butter.

So, Elegran enlighten me please. What are the ingredients of the B&B pickle?

I don't know, soop. Ask Ffinnochio all I know is what I read - that it is best with bread and butter - so presumably it gets its name from that, not from the ingredients.

I am not sure quite how you would make a pickle from bread and butter, come to think of it. It sounds rather weird.

Hello everybody I am feeling very mellow after my book group's annual barbecue lunch and amazingly we managed to sit out in one member's garden although cardis and scarves were in evidence! I wasn't driving so have probably had too much to drink ( 2 x wine and 2x prosecco) so feel like a nap ! Love and positive vibes to mcsporran and I hope mr bellasnana' is doing well. DD is still in one piece and the baby (her third) is due on Friday. I hsve been.up to give s hsnd with the monkeyd little boys and will do the same this week as she is shattered by their tea/bath/bedtime so I hope I am helping. But gosh after 2 days last wee I was on my knees too!

Soutra It appears that we are both on the same non diet. We've elected today as being a Scottish Bank Holiday Monday. It's what we do when we need to justify such treats as Magnum choc ices and (for me) buttery shortbread biscuits with my coffee.

Don't know where you buy the hazelnut flour from Galen but you'd better hurry and get some. I've just been reading in the paper that the price of hazelnuts has doubled as frost has wiped out most of the crop in Turkey.

It is absolutely pouring down here. Good start to our holiday tomorrow. Have just taken out all the summer tops and packed my winter woollies instead!

Wish soop's kitchen had the option of putting on photos as I took one today of our 'weather station' which at 2pm read 45 degrees C. It's too much! Everyone complaining of cold and rain in the UK. It's a pity we can't share it out a bit more evenly

I googled 'hazelnut flour' Galen and it seems it is available on line but at nearly £10 for 500g it seems a bit of a luxury

DH a little better today so I'm indulging in a glass of and not feeling guilty that he can't have any

Yes, we've enjoyed a few sunny days. Had lunch in the garden a couple of times then it got a bit windy late afternoon. Laughed out loud at Rory having a chicken supper, as you probably know, in Scotland, a chicken supper is a portion of chicken and chips from a fish and chip shop .

I remember those temperatures in August when we lived in France Bella.
I would get up at 6, do whatever needed done and by 10, it was just too hot to do anything but sit under a tree and read a book. Alternatively, go anywhere that had air conditioning!

Hope you have a good holiday despite the weather Crafting. It will be nice to get away for a break.

Agus nothing so common for Rory as a proper chicken supper as we know it. He has a portion of chicken cooked by soop and delivered to his bowl when it is not too hot to burn his palate. I am hoping that the food is tested before delivery, it really is nothing less than he deserves.

Sorry I have not been around for a bit. Have just done a skim read and send best wishes and {{{hugs}}} to all who are (or their spouses are) having health problems. My own spouse is improving bit by bit, day by day. He surprised me today by negotiating the 3 steps at the front door, both in and out, without even a walking stick. I have been cruel to be kind and abandoned him at some point each day to go canvassing, leafleting or womanning the YES hub. He has coped fine, making his own lunch and even tackling the dishes and a bit of hoovering. Coming into the light at the end of our tunnel now. I am so grateful - I would have made a rotten long term carer [mile]
