I think I would have enjoyed it too!

It was so cleverly done janerowena with a combination of actors and puppets. GS2 is only just 18 months and he was entranced all the way through. All the mummies and grannies were solemnly singing all the songs.

It's the humidity. I don't think I've ever felt that bad down your way, you get more of a breeze in the summer, with sea breezes on both sides of you. I've only lived here for six years and the humidity here really gets to me. It was ten degrees hotter last summer in Paris but not humid in the same way. The only other place I have experienced it was in Chicago at the end of August. We get it almost every year here.

I don't think it's that hot and I live in sunny Dorset. I suppose 7 summers in hot and humid New York plus a childhood in Africa and the Far East has spoiled me for so-called hot weather here. I love it by the way as I loathe winter in this country as it's just cold and wet. Whilst having also lived and wintered in Canada and New York, we had very cold dry winters, with lots of lovely snow. When I finally moved back here I found the UK winters a real trial. The cold rainy days, but worse for me just overhanging clouds day after day after day. People are miserable then. I don't blame retired people moving to Spain for the winter, the older I get the harder I find it.

DD and I had a lovely time with GS2 in Richmond Old Deer Park yesterday. Beautifully warm - but not too hot, blue skies and fluffy clouds. We'd actually gone to see In The Night Garden Live (Brilliant!) but we had a picnic first and spent an hour in the playground. My shoulders were quite pink when I got home, but not actually burnt.

I never thought of it like that, but it did take me back to that summer of 1976, when the river Deben in Woodbridge dried up, and the smell was awful. Er, got nothing to do with humidity but still, and young ladys mind does tend to wander! I really wish I looked better in less clothes tho', I need to cover up, and that does make me hot! And before anyone says become a naturist, I burn easily! I also get ratty in hot weather, and now I'm rambling, it must be the heat!

It can, I was quite surprised by how humid it gets here, but put it down to the large amount of rivers and streams and lakes around us.

I understand its due to get fresher, a relief, janerowena it must have been very hot in your kitchen! I even avoided cooking last night, justifying that Rice Krispies would go towards a bit of weight loss! I often wish for a nice fresh north westerly on a hot sunny day, and always find that a hot humid south easterly can make Suffolk feel a bit murderous!

Another Suffolkite? We have had rain on and off all morning, but it's still warm and a bit humid, as bubbly says. Still, I'm not complaining, yesterday was pretty tiring. It's fine if you can sit still all day, but not if you have to get on and do things. I had to do some cooking for a friend's charity do and it was just awful in my kitchen, even with the door open in a north-facing room.

Temperatures are down in Suffolk today, but still a bit humid. Thought I was going to spontaneously combust yesterday, i don't do well in heat, and was more than glowing. I was very uncomfortable. i was away from home, and missed my darkened rooms and my lovely fan. And I needed to be dressed!!! At home, I just whip it all off and hope nobody calls!!!!

Yep, definitely a change here today in N.Ireland from the heat of Tuesday/Wednesday. But I like that, a little rain and drizzle today and then we can enjoy the next hot spell (if/when it arrives). A nice 21/22 degrees suits me nicely.

Fan in in the bedroom was on all night last night. It was 28c here today but we're on the coast so we had a cooling breeze. Heavy rain forecast for early hours.

I hate hot sticky nights.

I meant Wet Wales as an alternative suggestion, but reading it, it sounds like an order!

If you don't like heat can I recommend 2 things I've done recently which deal with the sun:
1. Go to Iceland & enjoy the hot pools in the rain or, on the few sunny days, enjoy sunbathing at 10 o'clock at night. Just back from a week there & loved it - soon acclimatized to the weather as long as wearing thermals & all over waterproofs but great being back in the sun.
2. Clear out a very untidy & dirty garage, shed & greenhouse, sloshing water about freely & going in and out of the sun at will.

Everything has cooled down a bit here in N Ireland but a couple of weeks ago it was just too hot. There was a time in the dim and distant past when I loved it the hotter the better but now I just deflate into a blob.
As for hot nights well that`s another story!!!!

30C here today, again just north of Bury St. Edmunds. This time was sat in full sun having lunch with friends, fortunately factor 50 had been applied as several of my friends were lightly grilled by the time we left. There was a slight breeze which was an improvement on yesterday's humidity, but even so I had to get changed when I got home. I would prefer a nice 21C, something I can get outside in and do some gardening. As it is I am sitting inside in the house with an icelolly.

On the coast here it has been really hot for most of the week, and the gardeners are all waiting for the rain forecast overnight. The grass is looking very brown. We have opted to stay in the shade of the garden, sitting out later in the day in the evening sun, lovely. The beach has not called at all.

Its hot here and I love it been outside a lot in the last few weeks I just want to be outside when the weather is good , let's face it it doesn't happen that often for us. I've been gardening and reading in the sun the heat doesn't bother me and we have a lovely breeze today.
