How are you all coping with this heat we are having?

I find it slightly intolerable, I am okay when I stay around the house , but today we ventured out to the coast and it was HOT,HOT, HOT.

Not really my cup of tea at all, yet when I am Stateside it doesn't seem to bother me , and it is far hotter a lot of the time !

Well , that is my take on it all !!

Hey ho

Hey there Vegas, I'm north of manc, and changed to my summer duvet yesterday. I decided I couldn't possibly change the duvet cover and sheets, again, without pulling the summer duvet out, and taking the winter one to the dry cleaners. I was warm enough last night, just, and that's probably because the dogs slept with me (mr Iam is not at home currently, otherwise the dogs would have been in their own beds).

MrIam is in Dorset, where he tells me the weather is mediterranean. Ah well, it's pouring with rain here again. Still, it's good for the gardens (said through only slightly gritted teeth)

To be honest I was getting a bit jumpy about all this talk of Syrian terrorist attacks and was wondering about airport security, so, in some ways it's quite reassuring. I'm currently looking for a leather backpack as my handbag is incredibly heavy when I travel and I wanted something that I could put on my back. Trust everywhere to be on some sort of high alert just when I decide to see the world shock.

Hi TEGAN, don"t know if you are about !

Have you read in todays paper that a tough new security regime is going to be imposed for people travelling to the USA.

The Americans are Getting even more jumpy about al -Qaeda & quite rightly, IMO

So that is going to be a great deal of fun eh ! NOT!

Quite hot here in Brussels, went out with DD and DGS pushing the pushchair from 12.00 to 18.00 yesterday, sales started 1st of july, they are different here legally just twice a year, DD got a lovely handbag, then we sat outside a couple of nice cafes on terraces and drank cold beers, then shared supper after DGS went to bed. lovely. SIL does an overnight to France Thursday/Friday, so no rush to get home. Hot again today, grass cutting i think.

Lovely here in Colchester. Sunny and 27/28 yesterday and today. Strong breeze takes the edge off the heat. I think we find the heat uncomfortable because of the humidity, the rain has only just left this edge of the country and is due again tonight sunshine.

Heat? Warmish and it drizzled a bit today, but the hottest place was in a large glasshouse we visited today.

What heat ? it has been mildish for a few days but not the kind of weather where I would go and sit in the garden. Somebody is getting my share.

annodomini Thu 03-Jul-14 23:46:44

Nonu - right now, if you keep on going south, beyond the Equator, you will eventually find it getting colder at this time of year!

Soutra Thu 03-Jul-14 23:21:03

Nonu French for "heat" is "la chaleur" and "coin' means "corner'. C'est tout!

Nonu Thu 03-Jul-14 23:05:17

Will wait to hear from you honey, when do you actually go ?

Tegan Thu 03-Jul-14 22:57:09

Will do [probably with a huge list of daft questions]. Eg do I need insect repellant and are things like sun tan cream expensive over there [they're always very expensive at holiday resorts]. Not sure what to do about money as the exchange rate is very good at the moment but don't want to risk it falling before I get my dollars. I'll compile a list...

Nonu Thu 03-Jul-14 22:50:43

Find a nice gentleman to sit next to, tell him you are scared and ask him to hold your hand.

A friend of mine did that. It didn't come to anything but he grabbed her hand again as they came in to land! I think he was genuinely scared!

Nonu Thu 03-Jul-14 22:45:34

SOUTRA

?

Explain , I am just a simple woman !!!

Tegan Thu 03-Jul-14 22:37:57

I'll have to look at the itinerary confused. It's that pensioners coach trip thingy that takes you to San Francisco, The Grand Canyon and stuff like that. I'm sort of not thinking about it too much cause I'm scared of flying.

Nonu Thu 03-Jul-14 22:37:40

JANER , sounds so scrumptious , invite me next time !

Soutra Thu 03-Jul-14 22:37:24

Or "la chaleur" as we say in pedants' coin grin

janerowena Thu 03-Jul-14 22:35:54

It was 29C here today, and 28C further south in Bury St. Edmunds. I spent the afternoon and evening sitting in the shade on a blanket with friends and a jug of pimms, watching cricket. Idyllic as long as we didn't move.

Nonu Thu 03-Jul-14 22:34:59
