My granny was 253; my uncle and aunt 254 and we, when we got a phone after the war, were 1187.
Suggestions for a strong but pet friendly weed killer please.
Angela Rayner is a scrounger, grifter and shameless hypocrite.
Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder. Somehow I feel better, even though I have it!
Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. -
Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.
This is how it manifests itself:
I decide to water my garden.
As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.
As I head towards the garage, I notice post on the porch table that I picked up from the postman earlier.
I decide to go through it before I wash the car.
I put my car keys on the table, put the junk mail in the recycling box under the table, and notice that the recycling box is full.
So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the recycling first.
But then I think, since I'm going to be near the postbox when I take out the recycling paper anyway, I may as well pay the bills first.
I take my cheque book off the table and notice that there is only one cheque left.
My extra cheques are in the desk in my study, so I go into the house to my desk where I find the cup of coffee I'd been drinking.
I'm going to look for my cheques but first I need to push the coffee aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over.
The coffee is getting cold, and I decide to make another cup..
As I head toward the kitchen with the cold coffee, a vase of flowers on the worktop catches my eye - the flowers need water.
I put the coffee on the worktop and discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning.
I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers..
I put the glasses back down on the worktop, fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote control. Someone left it on the kitchen table.
I realise that tonight when we go to watch TV,I'll be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers.
I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.
So, I put the remote back on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill.
Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.
At the end of the day:
The car isn't washed
The bills aren't paid
There is a cold cup of coffee sitting on the kitchen work-surface
The flowers don't have enough water,
There is still only 1 cheque in my cheque book,
I can't find the remote,
I can't find my glasses,
And I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all bloody day and I'm really tired.
I realise this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail.....

Darrowby 385!
Remember when telephones were answered with the area you lived and a four digit number? My mum would answer the phone and say 'Highbury 1947' - I think that sounds quite nice!
I have a remote for the TV, a remote for the video, a remote for the free view and a cordless phone.
All black. All approximately the same length and width. So anno I'm glad it's not just me
No idea anno. Plot. Lost.
Dragonfly, you didn't by any chance try to make a phone call with the remote? I have been known to do that - and to attempt to change channels with the phone.
I just found my tv remote in my handbag whilst at Sainsburys checkout. No idea.
When I was a CAB adviser, I found that precious few people knew their own mobile number - 11 digits are apparently too many. Even more had no idea of their national insurance number.
I have a problem with telephone numbers, because all landline numbers are in phone memory I don't have to key them in. Once every year I have an official comes to visit and ask me questions about our second property, last time she asked for the phone number and I just looked at her, my mind was a complete blank and I had to go and get the address book. I have had this property for twenty years.
Printmiss, your phone number faux pas reminded me of one of my worst. I compiled an election leaflet and it was duly printed and distributed. It was only when my friend phoned me and reported that she was getting lots of calls for me that I realised that I had absent-mindedly put her number on the leaflet instead of my own
. She remains my friend to this day.
Hmmm, looks like it's down to you then Nansypansy as shysal has a tendency to eat it before we get our grubby little mitts show our appreciation
I'll be at the party bearing goodies, although I ate the Welsh Rarebit (made with left over cheese sauce) for breakfast!
There's only you Nansypansy (that really has tickled me)! You will have to hold a garden party and invite us all - just to help you get rid of all that food you understand
And there's only me!! ..... Think I better start a lunch club!!
There you go Marmight - we really have started a 'support group(s)' (I have made it plural as we now seem to have a CSC as shysal is a member of that one!)
It's nice to know we're not alone
Nansypansy - your post did make me smile, I can just see you in your kitchen, slowly disappearing under a mountain of food lol
Nansypansy, that sounds just like me!
Holly that is so funny! It describes me to a T. Every day is like that for me and it's so reassuring to know I am not alone
I have a similar condition called CSC (can't stop cooking). It starts off when I decide to make pastry for a pie topping. I find I have some left over pastry and can't bear to chuck the rest of the egg I've used as egg wash, so I make the base for a quiche, fill it with whatever I've got in the fridge, use the egg, plus more eggs, cream and cheese, but find there's too much of this mixture to throw away, so I make a bit more pastry to use it up in a mini quiche but then there's a bit more pastry left over so I make another base for a bakewell tart, make up the bakewell mixture, but find there's a bit too much of that for the filling, so I add some mixed fruit to it and make a few fairy cakes, but there's still a bit if pastry left so I add some cheese into it and make some cheese straws, but there's some grated cheese left over so I decide to make a cauliflower cheese but there's some cheese sauce left over so I decide to make Welsh rarebit as it's now lunchtime because that's how long it took just to make the pie topping .........
Ah, thanks POGS - I am rapidly typing a response right now
- was that the phone? Better go and check ....
I didn't have it till I retired. Now my days are all like that.
Snap!
They certainly are Soutra - but what is old to some is new to others
(and I only have old stuff now
)

Blimey, what a relief to finally have a diagnosis!!! Cheers.
My doctor say's he owes you a pint and suggests you send your AAADD theory to Jeremy Hunt, it could save the NHS thousands.
10/10.
The answer is simple; to achieve inner peace and harmony you must finish what you start .
I have just finished a packet of crips, a box of chocolates and a bottle of wine.
Simples!
