I'd forgotten that too susiemac - my friends and I would make 'tent' in the house using the wooden clotheshorse and tablecloth/sheet/blanket - whatever we could get our hands on - and sit with a torch if it was too dark to see each other Ah, simple pleasures but so much fun.

I've never heard of that game susiemac (with the bouncy ball and a stocking) let alone played it - if I can find the scissors and an old pair of tights, the dog's could be in danger of losing one of their bouncy balls

Not sure what you mean Nelliemoser - I've only just read it so it was posted after I had signed off yesterday which is why I've commented on it today - unless I'm misunderstanding your last post?

My artistic granny used to frame her own drawings using passe partout. I wish I still had some of those, but the ones that survived have all been reframed.

Ever had Cremola Foam with a dollop of ice cream in it - yummy - summer time madness

I always remember getting a lovely straw bonnet for Easter Sunday with tiny pink and blue flowers on it and ribbons to tie under my chin

I don't remember Cremola Foam at all (too old or too young? - probably the former).

Probably have to live in Scotland or N Ireland - very popular in both countries

I also remember Cremola Foam very clearly in the Scottish Borders. I also remember knitted knee socks held up by elastic garters. My granny knitted them and I loved trying them on to see if they were long enough in the foot while they were still on the needles. They were shaped for the toe when they were.

I bought Cremola Foam in an old fashioned sweetie shop in Inverary recently. GDs loved it as did their Mummy as it brought back memories of having it at her Grannies. My mother always added a teaspoon of Glucodin to sweeten it!

Cremola Foam was a special treat for us on a Sunday. I can remember putting a teaspoonful of the powder in my mouth and almost choking when it started to bubble!

I've just Googled it and you can still buy it, but pricey at £4.00 per tin! allmarksweets.co.uk might just have to do it!

My childhood was during WW2 and the strongest memory was the amount of freedom we had, for "adventures". We were pretty wild.
Dads were away fighting the Germans, other family members were working hard, so there was very little adult supervision.
There was always anxiety in the background though, which has stayed with me.

How could you Ceesnan - I had to click the link and look at this famous Creamola Foam and then saw all the rave reviews, now I'm pretty certain I shall be buying some to see what I missed out on

In the summer, mum would pour glasses of Cream Soda (the rare occasions she bought fizzy pop) and would put a scoop of ice cream on it and with a straw - sometimes half a strawberry slotted on the side of the glass; I used to feel very posh little things and little minds eh ...

That sticks out the most in my memory, it's one of the reasons I was glad I was born when I was and not one of todays children.

Somehow, 'Kramola Fizz' doesn't have the same ring to it...

I remember using a chive stalk as a straw - made the Creamola Foam taste disgusting but seemed very American and cool!

When I was pregnant with my son (1982) my craving was for Cremona Foam!
No wonder he was 8lbs 2 ozs! I loved it as a child but only had it on holiday (when of course the sun shone all the time).
