Can you ever have too many............

I've only got 3 grandchildren......but I DO have a GREAT-grandson!

Ohh I have got 7 Grandchildren now, number 7 arrived on Tuesday, so they range from 20 yrs to 4 days.

I've got 8 and I hope that'll be it

soutra I was thinking the same thing! Scarves don't cost much though, so let's continue indulging ourselves.

In the olden days when I was working I was quite ruthless about bagging up perfectly and often expensive but surplus shoes trousers etc for the benefit of our local charity shops. How I regret that now! I can think of lots of comfy shoes and assorted trousers and jackets that I could use now but a) are no longer available and b) can't afford any more But I can still buy scarves

Silk scarves, vintage if possible. Costume jewellery, vintage and anything reduced. Even if I don't wear them much, GDs love to dress up in them! X

Oh dear, black trousers....now that I have got the cropped ones out as well I realise just how many I have, in every material, texture, shape.

And pashminas, but, as rockgran says, never quite the right colour.

Scarves - I've got hundreds but never just the right colour.....

Handbags , purses and junk jewellery... and books !! 100's of books

Mine is jugs. I have about 20, big, small, medium, glass, pottery, china, silver, vintage, new, whatever.... I love the shapes, they're so organic, and I can't resist when I see a nice one. I go into shops muttering to myself "No more jugs! No more jugs!" But if there turns out to be a pretty one, I'm a pushover.

Oh... scarves, I love my scarves.

Oh... I love shoes also.

Oh... and earrings.....

I sorted out all my bags last month.
I kept 2 good leather satchel cross body bags, one in tan and one black. A smaller quality black leather bag for dress up. And 2 others, 1 x taupe, 1 x multi coloured beaded stunning, and goes with everything. So I have 5 bags in total.

Every other one (about ten) went onto eBay. And those remaining are stored in the blanket chest that I use as a coffee table.

The 5 bags that I have were all bought on eBay. All of them are in the posh/expensive range, perhaps £200/£300 when new, but I bought them for around £20. It's great to feel the lovely soft leather well worn in, and if one is a disappointment I just put it onto eBay and resell it

phoenix, re. that collection of new/nearly new shoes, I'm sure you could get rid of them on Ebay!

Is 8 sunhats too many? After all, this is Britain!
Last Autumn I bought a lovely big furry hat that looks a bit like a judge's wig, and never needed to wear it all winter.

Scarves and strings of beads ,bracelets and costume brooches can't get enough of all of them.

Come on grumppa, have a party, we'll all come!! No excuse necessary.

Shoes; keep buying them hoping for comfort and rarely find it. The trouble is, I never give them a chance to be 'worn in', they get discarded at the bottom of the wardrobe.

Handbags - not all my purchases I hasten to add. My dear friend, who sadly died a while ago, had a thing about handbags and was always buying lovely ones. She gave a lot away and also bought me more for presents. I can't bear to part with most of them, although the DDs have a couple each. However, I still can't find the perfect everyday one (they don't seem to make navy blue handbags any more).

I also have a large stash of yarn, but was working through it last winter, and have to stop myself from buying more.

In fact it was seeing me drink champagne all night long at a friend's 50th this year and be perfectly ok the next day that has stopped DBH from hoarding it and passing it off to others as presents.

Send them to me? I love it. Any excuse. Live a little, grumppa! sunny day, champagne in the garden after lunch - why not? DBH used to hoard it too. And I have even known TWO New Year's Eves when I have almost cried because DBH's parents have invited us up, decided to go to bed early after all, and put the champagne back in the cellar before they went up! Including the bottles we had taken with us!

Also, it doesn't give you a hangover. The best reason ever to drink it.

Bottles of Champagne. DDs are generous and Waitrose bargains are hard to resist, but Mrs. Grumppa is not keen, and I seem to be short of excuses for a celebration.

I love pearls too, Galen. Unfortunately so does my daughter. She wanted a 'pearly' wedding, so I gave her my stash, apart from one or two pieces.

It's only a room that is too small to be a bedroom, Ana! It doubles as my sewing room. I did manage proper posh once though, with Ex I had a proper dressing-room. It was luxury. I fantasise about that room on occasion, but he wasn't worth staying with for the sake of my dressing-room, sadly. I did try!
