My horrible inconsiderate rude next door neighbour. It's the first time I have ever had a bad neighbour, so it's a bit of a shock. The house and garden have been completely remodelled over the past two years and I am dreading them moving back in again, I prefer all the building noise to having him spying on me. Which will be even worse now that he can overlook my garden because of the vast extension he has built.

All of the above, but really so many things it would take me all day to list them. I think I'm probably the original Grumpy Old Woman, haha!

rosequartz Tue 20-May-14 10:05:51

Granniepam, my DM always said 'there is no such word as can't'!

KatyK Tue 20-May-14 09:58:06

Ooo glamma that is my husband's pet hate. He always says to me 'didn't they realise they had to pay?'

Granniepam Tue 20-May-14 09:56:44

Those who say they can't do whatever - without even making an attempt and making a silly statement like, "Ooh, she/he/you is/are sooo clever........ I could never do that!" angry

glammanana Tue 20-May-14 08:52:26

Most of the above specially know it alls who won't listen to another persons point of view, and to the person in front of me in the queue paying at the Supermarket who doesn't decide to find their money/card in the bottom of their bag until the cashier has finished the transaction hmm surely you knew you where going to have to pay for goodness sake ??

All of the above
Gossips -- schadenfreude types especially
People who readily give an opinion on a subject they know nothing about
People who judge others by their own ideas of how everyone should live
Interfering busybodies

MiceElf Tue 20-May-14 07:51:20

Yep, all those.

And - people (often of average height, tall ones never do it) who occasionally bend down to speak to me because I'm small. I always enquire sweetly if they have back problems.

Lona Tue 20-May-14 07:36:21

Patronising snobs!
Also, all of the above, and people with no sense of humour! [growl]

kittylester Tue 20-May-14 07:13:12

I am feeling slightly more reasonable today (up to now)! sunshine

All of the above push my buttons too but people with closed minds are the worst. I also get really cross about inefficiency. Especially the charity who had an article in the local paper asking for volunteers, seemed to like my past volunteering experience, asked me to apply and promised to acknowledge receipt of my application - 3 weeks ago! angry

People who say ' this was my job, and I'm not going to consider any other job! Therefore the state should pay me until I reach retirement age with a full pension, although my injury was 20years ago and I could do an alternative job!'
Grrrrrr!

Dragonfly1 Tue 20-May-14 00:13:41

Somebody has well and truly pushed my buttons tonight so you have my sympathy, grannyactivist.

rosequartz Mon 19-May-14 22:35:56

People who talk at you instead of to you, mostly about themselves and their perceived woes. They seldom give you a chance to say anything and never listen to what you say anyway and just carry on as if you had said nothing.

And much of the above in whenim's post.

Also liars and fantasists who tell you the same things again and again and expect you to admire them when you want to scream 'shut up you stupid liar'.

Charleygirl Mon 19-May-14 21:07:06

I emailed a friend saying because my car had to be towed by the RAC to a garage, I had to cancel our meet up at her house which is just over a mile away. The reply email said if there is anything we can do to help you, please ask. Why not offer to pick me up? A coffee in another house would have been welcome.

Most of the above.

KatyK Mon 19-May-14 21:00:22

Most of the above! I particularly agree with smugness and know alls. Obviously all the big stuff such as people who harm children etc. A particular pet hate is when I meet up with someone or speak to someone on the phone and I say 'how are you' and they proceed to tell me not only how they are but what their every living relative and everyone they know and their dogs, cats and budgies are up to and at no point ask how me and mine are. It seems to happen a lot lately. Grrrrrr

annsixty Mon 19-May-14 20:30:23

Difficult time for you all kitty.flowers

annodomini Mon 19-May-14 20:29:01

when, I'm coming to join you in that dark room. Agree on all points!

kittylester Mon 19-May-14 19:38:19

At this precise moment in time? DD3's flipping excuse for a husband!!!!! angry

I'll get back to you with a more reasoned answer tomorrow if I feel more reasonable!!

Ana Mon 19-May-14 19:28:39

Know-it-alls and smugness...angry

chloe1984 Mon 19-May-14 19:25:30

People who ask how you are and never bother to listen to the answer. If they are not interested why do they bother asking.Just stop at hello.

whenim64 Mon 19-May-14 18:30:40

Oh, where do I start? People who don't/won't listen when someone needs to tell their story in their own way.

Politicians who think their great idea that has not been tested should be just rolled out and then quietly buried when it goes pear-shaped - are YOU listening Michael Gove?

Racists, bigots, misogynists, cruelty to children and animals, corrupt officials who steal foreign aid.........I'm going for a lie down in a dark room now - I have quite a few more......angry

Galen Mon 19-May-14 18:29:56

Unnecessary rudeness!
People who are opinionated
Political bores

grannyactivist Mon 19-May-14 18:06:22

I hope that Gransnetters who know me well will recognise my view of myself that I am usually a calm, positive person - not easily given to crossness and negativity. So why am I sitting here doing my impression of being a total crosspatch? Because yes, I do have buttons that when pushed bring out the tigress in me. There are some views that to me are like a red rag to a bull, even when only hinted at. hmm
That got me to wondering - what makes your hackles rise?
