What pushes your buttons?

I hope that Gransnetters who know me well will recognise my view of myself that I am usually a calm, positive person - not easily given to crossness and negativity. So why am I sitting here doing my impression of being a total crosspatch? Because yes, I do have buttons that when pushed bring out the tigress in me. There are some views that to me are like a red rag to a bull, even when only hinted at. hmm
That got me to wondering - what makes your hackles rise?

MiceElf Tue 20-May-14 16:00:06

The mobile phone stroll

Galen Tue 20-May-14 15:33:45

People who stop suddenly in front of me on my mobility scooterhmm

POGS Tue 20-May-14 15:29:23

The problem is human nature.

When, as a collective group, not any individual I assure you, mentions smugness, bigots, know it all's, big heads etc. etc. This will apply to us 'all' because we all have the same view of another person and they in turn will be thinking of you. That's why they say never talk about politics or religion. grin

To see ourselves as other's see us.

Dog mess

Cat mess

My ex S-I-L

DH when he say's 'You never told me that'

People on motability scooters who go too fast or own the pavement in shopping centres.

Poor service.

Premium phone lines.

People who hit your car and shove off.

Having to book in hours at the airport.

My bra's, they cut into my shoulder and I hate having to wear the damn things.
[over the shoulder boulder holders]

Galen Tue 20-May-14 15:24:12

Are you an iconoclast?

suebailey1 Tue 20-May-14 15:12:30

How about 'iconic' everything is bloody iconic these days or 'spot on' makes me rage - again!!!

Ceesnan Tue 20-May-14 13:57:39

People who produce link after link to try and reinforce a remark. One can be helpful, after that you've made your point, I don't need further information thanks. People who refuse to consider a different view point to their own. Adult cyclists on a pavement - if you don't feel confident enough to cycle on the road then you shouldn't be out at all. DH because he was chosen for Jury Service and doesn't want to do it whereas I would love to. Having it implied that my voting preference was responsible for various misfortunes.

Valbeasixties Tue 20-May-14 13:28:55

I just love so many of these and have been sitting here saying:"Yes!Yes!Yes!"
I cannot bear overuse of 'absolutely' or 'at the end of the day' and often wonder what people being interviewed used to say before the phrase 'open and transparent.' Why has it also become common to answer the question: "How are you?" with the response: "Good."
One of my pet hates when driving is when someone pulls out suddenly from a side turning when it is not necessary or appropriate and then proceeds to drive below the speed limit. When it is safe for me to overtake, he/she suddenly decides to increase speed! Grrr!
Feel unburdened now!

Cruelty of any and every kind upsets me. This includes cruelty to animals, kids, anyone. It also includes racism, homophobia, and sexism, because these attitudes are cruel.

More minor annoyances are noisy fellow passengers on the suburban train, smugness and stupidity.

And general annoyances are extremist lying dishonest politicians imposing horrible harmful policies on us and pretending they are necessary. (Anyone in Australia right now would understand this one)

suebailey1 Tue 20-May-14 13:19:16

Shop assistants who say ' you alright there'. I respond 'Yes I fine thank you how are you? The I wait until they ask a more appropriate question about serving me.

I also dislike intensely being called ' you guys'. My husband is sick of me saying 'I'm not a guy I'm a girl, this is what we look like'.

rubysong Tue 20-May-14 13:11:24

Lycra-clad posers cycling enthusiasts who ride on the road (frequently two-abreast) when the council has provided a very nice and expensive cycle track.

Lona Tue 20-May-14 13:11:15

Oooh! kitty You've reminded me angry motorists who park on the pavement get me WILD!!
If I'm pushing the buggy I want to ram them. I did once make a man lift up the buggy and carry it across the very small gap he'd left between the cars for sale and his car!
There was no way I was going to walk on the busy main road with a toddler in a buggy.

angry [steam out of my ears!]

MamaCaz Tue 20-May-14 13:07:30

Cold callers who, having interrupted me at a most inconvenient moment, then talk to me as if they're my best friend: Hello MamaCaz - how are you today? Are you having a nice day, blah blah blah!!!

It's happened twice already today. Grrr

Aka Tue 20-May-14 12:30:48

Yes, all of the above but especialy people who are negative about everything and everyone.

kittylester Tue 20-May-14 12:27:18

People who park on the pavement thereby not allowing pushchairs or wheelchairs to pass safely!

I agree with most of all of the above - except Sue's bum - but especially non clinical managers.

KatyK Tue 20-May-14 12:26:00

Oh yes you are all reminding me of more and more things. People who say 'I'm good thanks' when you offer them a cup of tea or something. I feel like saying I didn't ask you whether you were good, bad or indifferent, I asked if you would like a drink. confused

GrannyCaz1 Tue 20-May-14 12:17:10

People who just walk straight at you in town when you are pushing a pram and expect you too move out of the way

suebailey1 Tue 20-May-14 12:16:40

A list of them- I am very angry person I think

BBC newsreaders with poor grammar and diction
Game shows
Reality TV
James Dyson
Chewing gum
People holding their fork like a knife
People in coffee shops who say 'can I get a latte'.
Litter
Dog poo
Cat poo
Rupert Murdoch
Football
Snooker
My husband eating an apple -deafening
My husband reading the newspaper- deafening
One of my SILs
My mother (long deceased but still driving me mad and its probably her fault I'm so angry)
Non clinical managers in the NHS
My bum

that's all for now you will be pleased to know.

cyberjack Tue 20-May-14 12:13:20

People who spit.

Elegran Tue 20-May-14 12:05:31

And that phone call prefaced by "I am calling to let you know of a new initiative . . ." as though they are officials kindly telling you of a government scheme to help you out, instead of salesmen wanting you to take out a contract for them to supply you with said new boiler etc.

Galen Tue 20-May-14 11:54:38

janerowena
Are you sure you're not living in my house?

Another thing that pushes my buttons is.
'You definitely qualify for a free boiler/ insulation/ cavity wall insulation etc"
2-3 times a day!
I have a new boiler.
My loft is completely insulated
My walls are solid stone!

feetlebaum Tue 20-May-14 11:45:40

Oh dorsetpennt - you want the room next door -- 101...

100 is where the janitor keeps his mop and bucket...

dorsetpennt Tue 20-May-14 11:36:08

I always wanted to appear on Room 100 with my list of annoyances. but here are a few: poor grammar, especially in the use of the ubiquitous apostrophe. Very loud personal conversations on a mobile phone whilst seated on a train or bus. People eating large amounts of food whilst walking along the street.
Finally, for now, rudeness in all its form.

janerowena Tue 20-May-14 10:47:46

He has a nice wife, which makes it harder for me to be mean. Otherwise I would have no problem at all. grin

glammanana Tue 20-May-14 10:41:35

janerowena poor you you have my sympathies, have you thought of borrowing some extra children and inviting them all around to play,I would certainly find something for him to nose at though,or is he the type that would not be bothered it's awful when we have inconsiderate neighbours.

janthea Tue 20-May-14 10:39:36

Cyclists riding on pavement and generally showing no respect for pedestrians, even though they scream that drivers show THEM no respect!!! Grrrr angry
