Big Big Sing

Last evening I attended the Big Big Sing in Perth. It was fabulous, fun and there were about 100 singers of all standards there, the best thing being you don't have to be able to read music. It is taking place all round the UK, and is all connected to The Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer.
The tutor last night was young (to me anyway), enthusiastic and had us singing, in four parts, songs from various Commonwealth countries.

Make sure you put org and not com (which is what I did) as it is a Chinese site grin
Oh and disabled folk are catered for which I think is another plus factor.

Wonderful! - I run a community choirs project for over 200 singers aged 8 to 88 every 3 years in the Three Choirs Festival - I am busy planning for 2015's event. It is a lot of hard work - raising money, getting a crack soloist to join in with us, organising a commissioned work from a composer, sorting copyrights, selecting the right songs, making a rehearsal CD, recruiting singers, going round to choirs and schools to help with the learning, designing publicity and programmes......etc! And people just think we turn up and sing!! It is very exciting and everyone loves it.

And there are lots of events round here (and indeed all over the country now) that really are a "just turn up and sing" - if you get the chance to go to one, please do. No-one cares how brilliant (or otherwise) your voice is r whether you can read music - it is just for fun, and so very very good for your health. And lots of community choirs now that operate on the same ethos. Don't hold back - get stuck in!!
