How do I contact the powers that be. I had a post deleted some time ago because of my comments on a certain poster. There is a live thread at the moment where, in my opinion, there are some very offensive comments, and jet, they are allowed to be printed.
I think we all know who I'm talking about. Please respond GN.

Flipping heck *jings' - you might be right but leave well alone please.

thatbags Sun 04-May-14 17:49:05

jings, if you hadn't told us that post was directed at you, I suspect that very few of would have known. I didn't.

JessM Sun 04-May-14 17:54:25

I've had whole threads ignored grin. Bloodied but unbowed. grin

Ana Sun 04-May-14 18:02:12

Jess! grin

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 04-May-14 18:02:30

I'm pretty sure the whole original complaint is directed at me and I find it sneaky and cowardly. If I am wrong in thinking that, it just goes to show what this forum can do to you and what an unhealthy place it can be to be.

I will get back to my Sunday now and leave you all to it.

MiceElf Sun 04-May-14 18:08:29

I've been ignored too. Doesn't bother me, i might have been writing drivel, but I've also been sniped at and insulted and rubbished and every time it has been one or two particular posters. I'm just wondering how many posts by Jingle have been deleted and how many times the insult has been repeated in slightly different ways.

I think it's very sad that discussions on here cannot be conducted with courtesy and respect. Robust disagreement is fine but insults and slurs and loaded language are not.

Ana Sun 04-May-14 18:16:35

I'm amazed that so much fuss is being made about this.

I don't remember any Threads of Outrage about a poster who was with us for several months last year (lovely flowery name) and whose sometimes extreme and vitriolic posts made jingl's seem positively tame.

Soutra Sun 04-May-14 18:27:51

???confused flowery name?? Obviously by me at anyrate easily forgotten!

Would be glad of a comment on that Kat since you have been bothered by this.

There have been a couple of posts we've deleted by Petra - we'll happy discuss them with her if she contacts us.

Elegran Sun 04-May-14 18:33:50

If she was that vitriolic it is just as well she is forgotten, Soutra

GrannyTwice Sun 04-May-14 18:34:51

Ana- I thought personal comments were frowned on?

MiceElf Sun 04-May-14 18:36:23

Precisely, Granny Twice. If anybody does have the slightest idea who is being referred to that is a very nasty comment indeed.

GrannyTwice Sun 04-May-14 18:45:44

I'm really confused - are we allowed to make unpleasant personal comments or not?

Ana Sun 04-May-14 18:51:42

Oh, so it's OK for some to talk about 'comments by a certain poster', but not others? I was merely saying that we've had far worse in the past - I expect my post will be deleted anyway. GrannyTwice, have we met before...?

Ariadne Sun 04-May-14 18:56:24

I have tried to resist posting, but I have to say that I have noticed, over my time here, that sometimes a poster seems to get away with being consistently rude and hurtful, while another doesn't, though I think that bags has given a reasoned answer to this, in that some people are clever at disguising their vitriol.

There is a cycle, which goes like this; quite soon someone will completely let fly, then disappear, then will begged to return, which they will eventually do, then it will all begin again.

As for taking sides - I am not surprised by this overt partisanship, but so disappointed that it should be so openly displayed.

Have had enough for a while, I think.

GrannyTwice Sun 04-May-14 19:01:02

Ana - the point I was trying to make ( sorry if it wasn't clear) is that I thought we weren't supposed to make personal comments and then you made a post that sounded as if it were. I really do want to understand the rules and this thread has confused me. I've posted a few times on GN Ana so you will have seen my name before- recently I've been on the MC thread and the Inherit one

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 04-May-14 19:05:20

Rarely "vitriol" on my part I can assure you. Will, however, put my hands up to indulging in a little bit of piss-taking now and again. Feel free to return it.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 04-May-14 19:07:23

"As for taking sides - I am not surprised by this overt partisanship, but so disappointed that it should be so openly displayed." (Quoting Ariadne)

Haven't a clue what that means.

merlotgran Sun 04-May-14 19:17:13

Gransnet is a bit like Formula 1 racing. You want it to be safe, you don't want anyone to get hurt but a little bit of excitement doesn't go amiss. When there's an 'incident' everyone perks ups and gives an opinion on what happened and why. Sometimes an argument breaks but it's only a matter of time before the circle of life on Gransnet returns to normal.

Nope - personal attacks will be deleted, once they have been drawn to our attention.

Here are our forum guidelines for those who haven't read them: www.gransnet.com/info/netiquette

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 04-May-14 19:37:25

Well what's that down/up there then. If asking someone if they are.....

Oh never mind! hmm

No rhyme nor reason to it. hmm

My Kindle Fire is now going on a quick trip via the sodding window.

annodomini Sun 04-May-14 19:55:14

An open or closed window?
