Not impressed

After my fiasco earlier this year with a new freezer and shocking service from that big electrical retailer whose name begins with a C, I took the advice of lots of folk, including Granspals, and swapped allegiance to John Lewis. Last month I ordered a new vacuum from them, to be collected from my local Waitrose. It arrived on schedule. On Tuesday I placed another order, to be collected from store as before. It was due in yesterday. It hasn't arrived. I phoned JL customer service - they've lost it. Maths was never my favourite subject but this represents a 50% failure rate by JL. Not happy

Always enjoyed impeccable click and collect service from JL via my local Waitrose.

Crumbs! This sounds very up market and expensive.

Have you tried Argos?? grin

They were cheaper than Argos, surprisingly. I'm just disappointed that they're obviously as unreliable as Currys. One order 'lost' out of two placed is a fairly lousy performance in my book.

Yes. You must be hopping mad, Dragonfly

We had a new washing machine delivered by Curry's last week. Wonderful service, they even took notice of our instructions regarding access avoiding steps etc. They took the packaging and the old machine away as well.

Argos didn't impress with their delivery of our fridge-freezer last year. Despite being told about the steps, they were doubtful about taking away the old fridge (despite us having paid extra!) and left the new one in the middle of the kitchen still in all its wrappings.

100% reliability from JL in my case - freezer, fridge and washing machine all delivered and unpacked (at different times) and the old appliances taken away for less than the council would have charged.

I can't comment on JW but I know I would never buy from Currys again after I paid for them to fit a new washing machine. When I ran it on an empty cycle first as recommend it resulted in a claim for a new dining room carpet !

I have never had anything but fantastic service from JL and are our first port of call for most purchases! sunshine

I think you have been unlucky Dragonfly1. I regularly order all kinds of things from John Lewis and have it delivered to my local Waitrose and I have never had a problem.

Never had a problem with John Lewis either. However, it stands to reason that no company is going to be one hundred per cent perfect.Lakeland, usually very reliable, have now and then let me down with orders, but it's going to happen isn't it? The main thing is to find a company that 9 times out of 10 perform well.

I'm sure they are generally good but I've just phoned again, having waited in vain for someone from their 'support team' to call me, and frankly their customer service is apalling on this occasion. I certainly would think at least twice before using JL on future.

I stupidly ignored any adverse comments about Currys - and guess what? I've had a delivery problem with a gas cooker. This has been compounded by trying to get through to a human on the phone because though it was bought through Currys I had to contact Hotpoint/Indesit to arrange delivery. I was eventually told what button to press and was assured that even though that button didn't relate to the issue in hand it would get me through to the right department! So not only do I have to be a mind reader I have to wait to be connected and when put through Im then told Ill be put through to someone else. To add insult to injury the recorded message goes on about the provision of excellent service. So when I was asked if I'd like to participate in a survey regarding their service I firmly pressed the appropriate button - and am eagerly awaiting the call back!!!!!

In fairness when I spoke to a human they were pleasant humans.

I won't touch Currys since I got my second computer from them.....ditto their pals Dixons (or have they gone?) and PC World.
