Do not be afraid, be angry--Edward Woodward

I've always rather liked "If you can't find something nice to say...........
Say something devastating"

Lazy people work hardest!

(So true - from your chair, try throwing something into a wastepaper basket, hit it and knock it over - contents all over the place . . . . . grin)

HollyDaze Sun 06-Apr-14 16:18:58

Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Real women don't have hot flushes, they have power surges

Ana it means lots of small amounts make a large amount - a bit like 'look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves'.
How about 'his coat's hingin' on a shoogly peg*?

My gran's: it's a long road that has no turning.

Many a mickle makes a muckle (no idea what it means, though...!)

Yes, good sayings, especially the "do as you would be done by", I would very much go along with that!

Quotes of course are a completely different thing. Perhaps another thread for those? (Some excellent ones by Oscar Wilde & Winston Churchill come to mind)

Penstemmon Sun 06-Apr-14 15:21:35

tiggy my mother's favourite saying..'you won't go far wrong in life if you do as you would be done by'

rosesarered Sun 06-Apr-14 15:21:31

Something that I said to DH this morning [which he wasn't best pleased by] when he asked if I was going to share some of the digging in the garden, 'Don't keep a dog and bark yourself!' The digging is all his dept.

MiniMouse Sun 06-Apr-14 15:18:44

MiniMouse Sun 06-Apr-14 15:17:57

God pays debts without money! My MiL's pet saying wink

tiggypiro Sun 06-Apr-14 15:16:21

Do as you would be done by.
My Nana used to say that to us 4 kids rather a lot !

Gally Sun 06-Apr-14 15:14:58

My Mum used to say 'Waste not want not - clearly means buy a Ford'. confused. I think it was something to do with an advert up on hoardings before WW2 - but I still say it and haven't got a scooby what it means really!

Anne58 Sun 06-Apr-14 15:10:14

"A day late and a dollar short"

Goodnight.
