Who's still here, nearly 3 years on?

I suppose it's inevitable that some of the original Gransnetters will have fallen away, but who is still here, that joined within the first few months? I joined a couple of months in (changing my name once).
I find I don't post as much now, though, and when I think of it, neither do many of the 'originals', though they do pop up sometimes, so they haven't left altogether. Of course, it's very possible that some of the 'originals' have changed their names and are still posting away merrily - though we can't include jingl in this of course wink)!

Yeah. Well. Wouldn't mind being enlightened now! hmmgrin

I havent got a clue what your all talking about.

gillybob Mon 31-Mar-14 21:27:06

There's nothing going on as far as I can see Marelli . I said that I had been on since the beginning and never changed my name. I commented that I found it difficult to keep up with name changes and Ana said that most (name changers) give enough clues to be identified. I then went on to say that "I am slow on the uptake" as I mostly haven't got a clue who has changed their name to what . confused

Ana Mon 31-Mar-14 21:33:33

Well, you did go on to say 'there are some that are very obvious', gillybob!

There's no great mystery - some members who have changed their usernames have actually told us who they used to be, and others have dropped heavy hints. Of course those who have chosen to remain anonymous are still so - what's the problem? confused

Someone told me that there are one or two here who have two screen names and that someone actually argues with herself on threads as two different people. I don't know if this is true and I have no further info but is it likely? I can't see the point myself but people have funny ways of behaving...

gillybob Mon 31-Mar-14 21:37:36

I was thinking about jingle actually Ana grin who has had more name changes than Elizabeth Taylor had husbands ! Hardly secret though grin

Marelli Mon 31-Mar-14 21:38:11

No - I hadn't meant anything! I was just confused because I thought Ana's wink meant that we might have recognised her by a previous name, and I thought perhaps gillybob knew what she meant....oh - I don't even know what I mean myself now...confusedgrin!

gillybob Mon 31-Mar-14 21:41:57

I can't see the point of arguing with yourself mollie unless someone was trying to stir trouble confused.

gillybob Mon 31-Mar-14 21:43:29

Don't worry Marelli I would be the last person to catch on anyway! grin

mollie Mon 31-Mar-14 21:54:25

Why have two names? It's bizarre and I don't know if it's true.

Ana Mon 31-Mar-14 22:11:18

Marelli, I was originally Anagram, but I actually started a thread way back (2012 I think) to tell everyone I was changing my name - you've obviously forgotten that, but I'll forgive you!

However, the wink was nothing to do with my own name change...

Marelli Mon 31-Mar-14 22:14:27

I think I do remember,*Ana*. smile

pinkprincess Mon 31-Mar-14 22:22:38

I have been here from the start and have the same name.
I don't post regularly though as I sometimes don't have time!

Galen Mon 31-Mar-14 22:38:22

I had to change mine because of my work! I was too recognisable.
I also had some very nasty pms

thatbags Mon 31-Mar-14 22:42:48

Hey all youse old timers, I need your help. Who else uses this expression: "Let's have a look at these here herrings heads" ?

You have to miss all the aitches off the beginnings of words and the look is as in a Yorkshire accent.

DD1 thinks I made it up. My dad used to say it so I presumed his parents, or one of them, did too.

I've changed my name a few times too. See profile.

LearnerG Mon 31-Mar-14 22:45:50

I've been here since about Autumn 2011 in various forms of my username - occasionally I leave if I'm worrying about privacy then rejoin as close as I can to my original name. I used to post a fair bit, and will always be grateful for the support I have had during hard times. But I don't post a lot these days, having been put off by the bickering which was going on. That was not what GN was about for me - I know others thrive on conflict, and love a good fight discussion, but to me GN is much more about the companionship of people who have grown up during the same time, have come through the the same experiences, and so can understand each other. Long may that continue smile

My DH is half Yorkshire and half Scottish and he says he has never heard of it thatbags confused

Greenfinch Mon 31-Mar-14 22:49:13

Well said LearnerG

LearnerG Mon 31-Mar-14 22:55:02

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 31-Mar-14 22:59:54

I don't think it would be possible to be on here with two names at the same time. If it is, you would have to be very tech savvie.

merlotgran Mon 31-Mar-14 23:00:24

My Yorkshire husband hasn't heard of it either.

thatbags Mon 31-Mar-14 23:03:22

Maybe my dad made it up!

DebnCreme Mon 31-Mar-14 23:24:58

Hands up, I have two names and I can still open the first from DebnCreme but I can't post with it because for the life of me I can't remeber my password. If I were to re-open it, all I would do is close it completely so all a bit pointless really.

No point in arguing with myself, I would only lose! grin

merlotgran Mon 31-Mar-14 23:37:33

I joined in 2012. If I had more than one name I'd need a pack of post it notes to stick on the screen to remind me who I am. hmm

It's very disconcerting when someone opens up a dormant thread and you meet your previous incarnation!
