Who's still here, nearly 3 years on?

I suppose it's inevitable that some of the original Gransnetters will have fallen away, but who is still here, that joined within the first few months? I joined a couple of months in (changing my name once).
I find I don't post as much now, though, and when I think of it, neither do many of the 'originals', though they do pop up sometimes, so they haven't left altogether. Of course, it's very possible that some of the 'originals' have changed their names and are still posting away merrily - though we can't include jingl in this of course wink)!

I couldn't remember what the name of the chat thing was about name change, and I just wanted to say I had changed my name.
Wish I hadn't bothered now.
It doesn't matter when folks started I agree, the point of my post was that I wasn't new.
Ana I shall indeed "just get on with it"

(having trouble with the 'i's on my keyboard today...)

Ana Wed 11-Jun-14 21:35:53

Sorry Crow, nothing personal as I obviously have no idea what your orignal name was.

Ana Wed 11-Jun-14 21:29:25

Does it really matter who was here at the start? Anyone could say they had, been but didn't post, or had changed their name...hmm

Let's just get on with it, or Gransnet's going to fade away in a fog of polite chit-chat and PC-ness!

I have changed my name this week I am afraid. I have been on since the beginning and I chose a name that I now think is too easily recognisable.
I didn't really want to do that, but felt it the right thing to do.

Lucid, I'm so pleased to see you again. smile

I'm still here, even if I don't post very often. Planning to change my username because I realise the one I use is a dead giveaway to anyone who knows our grandchildren. Just need some inspiration and motivation. Short of both today!

I'm still here....wink

I joined right from the beginning, but then didn't post for about 6 months or so. The first forum I'd every participated in, and cut my teeth on it. Two name changes later - older and wiser. sunshine

I think I posted sometime back in 2011, although not right from outset. I used to be BAnana, but when I got a new lap top I couldn't get that name accepted for some reason or other, so I just added an s. I wish I knew which GNs had changed their user names. I know many of these of course because they have been quite up front about it. I guess there are reasons why some GNs do change their names, but on occasions a poster will disappear and then some of us are left wondering if they have just gone, or come back under another guise.

Janthea, I remember that you bravely applied to do a Gransnet photo shoot at the beginning, and great you looked too!

I joined soon after GN started & loved being selected for the Google hackathon. Met some lovely people there but was also shocked by one bit of very negative behaviour towards another GNer. Always had the same name. I get a bit overwhelmed by all the threads now & could easily spend too much time on GN so just dip in & out occasionally. I value the information sharing, hearing different views of the world & meeting a few other people. I shall never forget meeting Carol Sheridan in Nelson a year ago - unfortunately it really did turn out to be a once in a lifetime experience. Some things about GN sadden me & make me think about leaving but I haven't yet.

Yep. It's all in my gransnet profile, plus some extras wink

shysal Tue 01-Apr-14 13:12:43

Or baggythecrust wasn't it?

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 01-Apr-14 10:40:11

And you will always be my Bagitha. smile

Same here, jane...confused

janeainsworth Tue 01-Apr-14 10:27:52

I haven't had a name change (obviously wink), but I also find it slightly disconcerting when old threads are resurrected and I see my old comments.
That's not really to do with my identity, but more because I have absolutely no recollection of ever making them grin

thatbags Tue 01-Apr-14 07:04:32

And jingl is still jingl whatever mashed up phrase she calls herself.

thatbags Tue 01-Apr-14 07:03:44

I don't find that, anno. After all, all those previous incarnations as you call them were still the same me.

annodomini Tue 01-Apr-14 00:12:03

It's very disconcerting when someone opens up a dormant thread and you meet your previous incarnation!

merlotgran Mon 31-Mar-14 23:37:33

I joined in 2012. If I had more than one name I'd need a pack of post it notes to stick on the screen to remind me who I am. hmm

DebnCreme Mon 31-Mar-14 23:24:58

Hands up, I have two names and I can still open the first from DebnCreme but I can't post with it because for the life of me I can't remeber my password. If I were to re-open it, all I would do is close it completely so all a bit pointless really.

No point in arguing with myself, I would only lose! grin

thatbags Mon 31-Mar-14 23:03:22

Maybe my dad made it up!

merlotgran Mon 31-Mar-14 23:00:24

My Yorkshire husband hasn't heard of it either.
