Out for lunch today & it's sods law that the waitress waits till I've just filled my mouth with a good forkful of beef blushto ask "is everything alright for you?"

Also why does the telephone start ringing when I've just sat down on the toilet?

Anyone else or just me?

posie I automatically take the phone in the bathroom with me, you can guarentee the thing will spring into life once the shower is running so you are not alone.hmm

I take the phone with me if I am perched on the loo but not if I am showering. By the time I can get out safely to answer it, the caller has gone and anyway I do not want to be chatting, standing in the buff!

I agree re the waitress - that happened yesterday, neither my friend nor myself could answer her, we just nodded.

I use a stairlift and that is when the front doorbell rings and I cannot get down quickly.

Why do visitors arrive just when you have gone to the loo?

Or that delivery you have been waiting in for all day, ditto.

Same thing happens to me!

It happened to me yesterday. I went to the loo and then the phone rang and a split second later the door bell rang as well! I was stressed anyway and that scenario just upped the anti. I walked in the sunshine to friends for coffee afterwards and felt better.

I'm afraid I do not rush to answer the phone now. My thinking being, if it's important they will call back or leave a message but a phone ringing is such a demanding noise and I am determined not to run downstairs or rush to answer it anymore.

As for the restaurant experience, yip, every time, mouth full, "is everything ok"? Why do they do it?

I can identify with all of the above.

My complaint is that whichever kitchen cupboard something falls out of, it always lands in the cats' water bowl.

Yes, happened to me today. the waitress actually stood behind me until I got a piece of steak in my mouth and then asked how it was.
The toilet thing doesn't happen to me but it does to DH nearly every single day grin

Deedaa Fri 07-Mar-14 22:28:46

In the days when I never knew what time DH would be home I would make myself a cup of tea if I was getting fed up waiting. Without fail, the minute I sat down to drink it, he would appear in the doorway and accuse me of spending all day drinking tea.

I think waiters deliberately wait til you have your mouth full in case you have a complaint.
If I am waiting for a phone call or delivery I go to the loo in order to speed it up. Usually works.

I agree Rockgran, usually happens.

I was expecting a parcel a couple of days ago, and for the first time in my life, I was up, dressed, washed, downstairs and in a position to see the red PO van pull up. All of this was before 8am. Normally I would be in bed, I would go to a window upstairs and ask him to dump the package on my doorstep and I would collect it at my leisure.

That was a first and I doubt if it will ever happen again!

Perhaps youz (sic) need to write to restaurant managers and suggest retraining about the is everything allright question, or even suggest that they don't ask!

I'm with agus about phones. If it's important they'll leave a message or phone again. Shrug.

Our deliveries are usually amusing. They arrive puffed because they haven't dared to drive up our hill so have walked up, or they drive up and spend a while doing 79-point turns because they think the space behind the house that they could use is just a bog and that they'll sink without trace. Even when I say "You can drive on this bit; it's solid" they tend not to.

Admittedly, the approach – steep uphill and inclined u-turns, not to mention pot holes and mud – is a good test of driving skills.
