Job-hunting immediate problem may be solved - I have an interview on Tuesday for mobile community care role. I have a former colleague friend who does this and loves it and I have been involved in auxiliary nursing in the past. Shift patterns would suit as we are early birds and I would be done by 3. I know this is a job with its own pressures, but could be a good stop -gap at least while I continue to look. Excited as I know I would bring a lot to it.

(I actually got two sizeable chunks of sleep last night -thank god-I am not sure I could have coped with life if I had had a third night of being up at 2 hour intervals!

Good morning. Took a tiny sleeping pill last night and slept through to 7.30 without waking once. It was truly wonderful.

Yes I slept better, waking about 6. A good night sleep is worth its weight of gold isn't it. I'm sure that's how silverlining feels today. It just makes coping with the difficulties of life a tad easier. I've always slept well and still fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow but for weeks now I've woken in the night and cannot go back to sleep for hours.
I usually wake at 1 or 2, needing a wee. The bathroom is downstairs and going down leaves me wide awake. I get up at about 5 o'clock and have sometimes only just gone back to sleep by then.
I can't stay in bed any later, that's my natural time to wake and get up.
I can often have an afternoon nap to catch up but resent wasting daylight in sleep.

I had another little pill last night, slept through ( good) but woke at 6.30 am, ( ok, but it worked til 7.30 the night before).
However geenerally i am always awake anytime from 3.30 am so i must not complain.
Was prescribed about 12 a year ago so have been careful but only have 4 left now. What do i do tonight? To zzzzz or not to zzzzzzz that us the question!?

The problem being an insomniac is it's a lonely old job isn't it? I'm so erratic and there's never any rhyme or reason for sleeping or not. For some time I've stayed up until the early hours and gone to bed then in the hope of a decent chunk of sleep. More recently I've been going to bed a little earlier, about 11-midnight and, sometimes, have slept reasonably well. Well. . . . last night was awful. Awake every hour. In a good sleep about 8am. DH left me alone so I got up about 9.30. Have struggled to stay awake all day especially now, having eaten. Wonder what tonight will bring for us all?

One advantage of being retired (if no GC to care for) you can have a lie-in, not being woken by the alarm and having to get up anyway...

I went for what I thought was a perfect job before I became self employed.

It was great, I got the job brilliant salary car thrown in but on my first day when I was taken to my shiny new car there was a problem, it was not an automatic car and I can only drive auto cars, I did not mention that as I really felt that 95% of cars now are auto

Anyway..there I was at the bus stop getting wet in the rain, so went from having this brilliant job with a car to no job no car in the space of 15 minutes as the company had to have someone that could drive the supply car. I did of course offer to have my manual test but they were not interested in all that.

However the moral of this story Imperfect27 is as I wait in the rain for that bus to get me home I thought to myself this is happening for a reason God has a plan for me, and I was right as the next day I walked into a similar establishment and asked about work opportunities and I was given an interview and a job, I loved that job and the people were brilliant and I stayed there for a while. I later found out more about the other company as it was the same industry and the boss was horrid slave driver no respect for her workers.

So dear lovely Imperfect27 have faith and all will work out for the best x x

Serkeen The new job will mean a hefty pay cut, but when I think about my core 'skills' it will harness those. Not kidding myself it will be easy if I get it - mobile community care has its own stresses and stress is an issue for me, but very different stresses from recent work. Hours would seem to fit in with mine and DH's patterns and it is a job that /I would not have to 'take home' with me. Feels a bit like full circle too as I always wanted to be a nurse in younger years, did voluntary auxiliary work on a geriatric ward for a year when I was 17... I am hopeful that /I could build a new career through this - I researched different local companies and this does seem the best and has CPD and management opportunities. Willing to just go quietly and see what comes of it. Happiness and well-being definitely more important than £ signs.

silverlining what ever you do try really really hard not to worry about not having the little pill and not being able to sleep or you'll never sleep. Try to keep busy today, go to bed late with a book or a radio make yourself comfortable and hopefully you'll nod off. I hope Newquay's and watermeadow was a bit better. No drinks for you after 7 water Your right devongirl things are much better now I've retired. I don't worry about not sleeping as much and as a consequence sleep a little better, oh the irony of it!

Thanks morethan. Started off last night sans pill but after more than an hour, wide awake, i took another little helper and after half hour fell asleep.
Trouble is i only have 3 left now and feel i am becoming slightly addicted to it. It certainly does give a full nights sleep as i dont wake up at all when i would usually Wake every hour or so normally. So perhaps a chat with the gp might clarify.

Should mention that i cannot nap during the day and never fall asleep, i relax, close eyes, it just wont work. whereas most people i know, especially my husband, .....sit down , closes eyes, goes straight to snore mode. How do they do that? Wish i could, how i carry on with so littke sleep, i dont know.

Sigh. A busy brain tonight (morning). Fretting about busy times just ahead of me and how to help my poorly son. I know things 'pass' - just wish I wasn't so sleepless as I am going to need my energy ...

I m here imperfect, Hope you get some more rest it's self fulfilling that if you need sleep for a reason you ll not find it

Morning lovely Gnetters. I did get a few more zzzzs in - on the sofa! Ah well, the day is here - need to chase mental health services at 9. Wish me luck. I dare say it won't speed referral up, but we have to try and convey 'urgent' surely means getting appropriate help asap after 10 weeks of waiting to date.

I didnt take a pill last night as am worried about dependancy.. had a bad night! As per ! What to do?
Nothing on today other than shopping, larder needs reloading. Perhaps chocolate may help. ??

Chocolate ALWAYS helps in my book silverlining, but I am trying to be 'good' on the calories front at the moment.

Just preparing / rehearsing ... polite / non-arsey tone needed for first contact, but both barrels loaded if I meet with obstructive unhelpfulness ... Churning inside as DS1 needs some ray of hope on the horizon.
