Can't sleep - won't sleep - anyone else awake?

Newquay Mon 25-Apr-16 01:29:29

Yep-stayed to watch recorded marathon highlights so went to bed gone midnight. Tossed and turned. Have just got up as I am SO cross that even though I'm tired I can't go to sleep;(

Judthepud2 Mon 25-Apr-16 01:30:48

Not up but awake. Really tired but brain active ? How are you doing Ruby? I have been offline for a few days so not up to speed.

Newquay Mon 25-Apr-16 01:55:18

I'm even more cross because we have a busy day today-the (big) funeral of someone we'd known for a long time and we know many folks are coming from all over. I shall be SO tired. Mercifully it's taking place in our local town so won't have to travel far.
Went last week to see Mary Poppins with a some friends in Brum. As usual had had a bad night before and struggled to stay awake during "supercallifragilisticexpialidocious"-if that's how you spell it?

grannylyn65 Mon 25-Apr-16 02:46:31

Yes, up with a cup of horlicks and racing brain ?

Alea Mon 25-Apr-16 07:28:54

Oh yes I was, Grace decided she had "night starvation" (remember that?) and made a beeline for her bowl after she had been out so got an extra "snack". Too tired to post though!

boheminan Mon 25-Apr-16 09:22:19

After a week of "night starvation" (Oh yes, Alea I remember it well....) I hit the pillow and was 'out' last nightsmile. I know a lot of you will be envy. Rotten to wake up to another miserable, cloudy day though.

Mm I finally went to bed at 3am having then taken paracetamol for shoulder pain and mild sleeping tablets.
DH made us a cup of tea at 8.30. Have now had breakfast, time for shower. . . . . But feel wretched. 3 friends calling to give us a lift in an hour to funeral. Just not in the mood to be meeting up with folks we haven't seen for a long timesad Insomnia has ruined another daysad
Choir tonight too so will have to have a snooze before then-concert soon so have to gosad

rubylady Mon 25-Apr-16 09:34:23

Got to bed around 2am but didn't sleep. Going for a Lletz? treatment for pre cancerous cells today so it was playing on my mind. Just lie back and think of England! blush

shysal Mon 25-Apr-16 09:50:34

Exactly right rubylady! This time tomorrow it will all be in the past. Take care. flowers

It's going to be another one of 'them nights' sad. Anyone else still awake?

Marelli Thu 05-May-16 00:08:58

Falling asleep while reading book. Book put on bedside table. Wide awake. Thirsty? Do I need a wee?
Pick up book and start again...yes, I think it's going to be one of those nights.....!

boheminan Thu 05-May-16 00:27:55

I haven't even got as far as bed yet Marelli, so you're one up on me! It's horrible, this wondering - "should I try to go to bed'? thing....moon

boheminan Thu 05-May-16 00:43:16

...Oh well, everyone else has nodded off to sleep, so I'll give it a go. 'Goodnight'.. moon

grannyactivist Thu 05-May-16 00:54:54

I'm still awake too Marelli. smile

boheminan Thu 05-May-16 00:58:33

grannyactivist - I kind of hope Marelli is still awake to chat! I'm going to give this elusive thing called 'sleep' my best shot for a couple of hours...I'm sure there's others lurking around, still wide awake. I'll probably be down here again in a couple of hours and there won't be anyone else awakehmm It's the nature of the beast! moon to you all

grannyactivist Thu 05-May-16 01:31:05

I'm awake, but thankfully the Wonderful Man has his own room so on night's like this one I don't disturb him. My first appointment tomorrow is at 9am with meetings continuing throughout the morning and into the afternoon so I can't sleep in tomorrow - I'll probably try to get a snooze in the mid-afternoon. I'm going to read my book now in the hope it'll send me to sleep eventually. Goodnight. moon

Leonora47 Thu 05-May-16 07:04:24

Hi everyone, I've just found this part of the forum, and am
another, frequent flyer on the, ' No sleep plane.'

'Bohemian', we didn't get around to sleepless nights when we finally managed to meet, but we could have found plenty of common ground there.
I'll look in tonight, just to see if you are about.

'Rubylady' I hope your tests went well, and you are feeling
less stressed. ?

rubylady Thu 05-May-16 14:18:33

Thanks Leonora, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Just waiting for results now and tight throat every time the letter box rattles. hmm Picked my dad's ashes up yesterday so that's foremost in my mind too. Although strangely comforting to have him sat on the table (I thought it would be a bit creepy but no, it's reassuring really) and I keep talking to him. Poor guy doesn't get any rest from my constant chatter even now. confused

Overdid things last couple of days so it's off to bed with me in a few minutes for a catch up. Washing on line (mine, not the beast's who lives upstairs! lol), washing up done (nearly), gardener been, some tidying done, so time for me and my pooch to have 40 winks. Just after I've watched the first case on Judge Rinder. . . wink

Leonora47 Fri 06-May-16 03:29:06

Good morning! Ha!
Just looking in to see if anyone is awake or still hugging
their mug of Horlicks or gin.
'RubyLady'
I lost my DH five months ago, and his ashes are snugly
stored under my bed and, as you say, it's not at all spooky
to me, just reassuring to know he's there for a chat.
I believe that the results of your test should arrive quite
quickly, but possibly the junior doctors' strike might delay them
a little - anyway, fingers crossed for a negative result.
I see you have a pooch; give him/ her a pat for me.
Sweet dreams,
Leonora.

I was awake but resisted the urge to sit in the study, I was awake at 3,4,5 and 6 but had to be up early for hospital appointment. Yesterday I developed this horrible cough and sore throat and now I have lost my voice.

tiredoldwoman Sat 07-May-16 03:26:49

Anyone here ?
I'm going off on holiday early Sun morning , will be on the road heading for the airport this time tomorrow . Why I'm not sleeping I don't know !
Last minute nerves , I suppose . Everything's packed , just needs a quick check but it's all going around in my head !

Liz46 Sat 07-May-16 03:52:38

I'm awake with a pain in my neck! I did jury duty at the end of March and spent a few days looking down at my book whilst waiting to be called and I seem to have damaged something. I'll have to see if I can get an appointment with a GP and that's a whole new story!

harrigran Sat 07-May-16 05:09:56

I am awake, been coughing all night. When I am in bed I have to sleep with a cool block under my feet and a hot water bottle on my back, does not make for a restful night.

morethan2 Sat 07-May-16 05:21:45

I'm awake and throughly fed up with myself. I could bawl. I've had a pain, well more than a pain it's pain with a horrible tingle under my right shoulder blade. It runs down my right side and around under my ribs at the front. I've had it for over a week and it's not getting any better and now I'm feeling like shit sorry for myself. I think I've caught a nerve in that big muscle and it's gone into a spasm. I tried to look in the mirror and all I could see was rolls of fat. That's made me feel worse. If I had a gas oven I probably think about putting mybloody head in it.
Not sure if this moan has made me feel better or not. Somone please tell me to get 'over my self' and count my lucky stars I'm suppose to be meeting my old mates for brunch today, then a barbecue for my 6 year old grandsons birthday. Oh dear how did it all come to this . I don't know what hurts most, my head, my shoulder, under my big fat titty or just my ego/ vanity. bugger,bugger--bugger

Shall I make you a nice cuppa harrigran brew
