Soop are you sure Rory cannot climb the ladder?

When I was probably about 3 I clearly remember my Dad up a ladder re- pointing the brick work at the side of our house. I think the cat was quite young then "Fluffy" just climbed up after him. As cats do. I don't remember how he (the cat ) got down but he did.

Please may I curl up in the corner here, wrap myself up in a blanket and sulk. A drop of wine might go down well too along with a big box of chocolates - I will share . love the music.

AllieO I have just listened to the Joan Baez link. Her voice tends to reduce me to tears.

She is so powerful a singer of those folk songs.
I have seen her seen her live three times.
In Bristol in the late 60s. Nottingham Queens hall about 5yrs ago and in The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester 2 yrs ago.
Most of the audience looked as if they were between 60 and 70. She is still good not quite the same power but what a presence! Still adored by her audience.

Nellie another great singer I admire and would loved to have been to at least one of those concerts.

Her Mother was from Edinburgh and she has said it was from her that she learned Scottish folk songs.

GDs nursery invited myself and another Granny, who is a friend of mine from many years back to sing any Scottish children's songs to pass these on to the children. I think almost everyone of them knew Coulter's Candy and sang with gusto

Hi all, do you mind if I have a little sit down - I've just changed 4 beds before the on-slaught of the next family visitors. Why is changing beds sooooo tiring. Agus It's important to pass on traditional songs to children. At the local village school the pupils are also having lessons in the Gaelic language.

Rory cannot climb ladders because he's rather plump. Also, he's "getting on a bit" and isn't as fleet-footed as he was when he lived on the wild side of the fence. He snuggled between MacSporran and me as we had our early morning cup of tea this morning. It has become a routine. We take it in turns to pet him. He purrs loudly. Eventually, he settles and for about 20 mins I rest my head on MacSporran's shoulder and Rory leans in between and dozes...his whiskers tickling my nose.

Proud Granny alert DGS Sandy, aged 6 won the poetry speaking competition at school yesterday, becoming the first of his generation to follow the family tradition of winning such prizes. Here is a link to his performance, although sorry the sound is poor - filmed on DD's mobile phone.

Did you hear me singing along to Coulter's Candy?? It was our signature tune when my sister, our friend and I were a semi-pro group called the Bawbees, way back in the 60's. The Four Maries was also part of our repertoire funnily enough. I am enjoying the sing-a-longs.
