This is now open for cakes and coffee and hot buttered toast. I am donating the new batch of marmalade. Enjoy.

Do you think that Rory would share his lunch with me?! I fancy mine on toast.

Icyalittle Wed 05-Feb-14 18:48:42

So far, so very good for McSporran. Good!

A bright and sunny topof the morning to all my Granspals.

We had a 250 mile round trip yesterday, so that MacSporran could attend the New Victoria Hospital in Glasgow. I drove the first 100 miles as far as Luss, near Loch Lomond. The weather wasn't too bad 'though it did rain for the first part of the journey. The outcome was positive...a good result...nothing nasty lurking in the depths of MacSporran's bladder. Such a relief. His smile, when he joined me, spoke volumes.

bags was, yet again, such a good companion having travelled some distance to keep me company in the coffee shop of the hospital. She gave me another temari [which I shall add as a photo in my album very shortly] and delicious date and lemon flapjacks [which we ate with our supper]...absolutely scrummy. The lemon juice gave them a lovely sharp tang. I'm sure that she'd share the recipe with you lot.

When we arrived home, Rory went into overdrive. He was skittish. He wanted lots of special fuss. Anyone would think that he had missed us MacSporran

smile sunshine (((hugs))) for all my Granspals.

What good news, soop. You must both be feeling like new people now that anxieties have been relieved. Slainte!

soop Fri 07-Feb-14 12:20:24

Thank you dear Anno. I'm about to add Bags's temari image to my album.

Bellasnana Fri 07-Feb-14 12:53:57

Just got in from a long, lovely walk with DH in glorious sunshine and am so pleased to hear the good news about your day yesterday. What a relief. You were both on my mind when I woke in the night. Glad I can cross you off my worry list for the time being! (((Hugs))) and sunshine to you both, and to Rory of course. My tortoiseshell, Zim, is sitting on my arm as I type. She sends purrs xx

soop Fri 07-Feb-14 13:20:30

Thank you Bellasnana and Zim I love the name. grin

annodomini Fri 07-Feb-14 13:24:26

The temari is beautiful. Bags is such a talented crafter.

Bellasnana Fri 07-Feb-14 13:27:44

Haha, soop! DD1 was dating a member of the Zimbabwe cricket team at the time which is how Zim got her name ( she also answers to Puss). I would put a photo of her for you to see, but I can't seem to put more than one picture without the previous one disappearing so have given up trying!

soop Fri 07-Feb-14 13:33:46

Bellasnana report your problem with uploading images to Lara. She'll sort things in next to no time. wink

Agus Fri 07-Feb-14 13:37:05

Great news Soop. I got a similar smiley face from DH in the same hospital. Such a relief!

How talented is bags? Beautiful temari. Please don't tell her though that I am still slogging away at mine when I have the time but thoroughly enjoying it.

Lona Fri 07-Feb-14 14:57:06

That's wonderful news soop, I'm sure you are both relieved and delighted sunshine

The temari is beautiful, thatbags is a very clever lady, and I like your wacky blue cat too.

numberplease Fri 07-Feb-14 15:48:55

Wonderful news Soop, so pleased for you both.

soop Fri 07-Feb-14 16:05:38

Agus Lona number grin

soop Fri 07-Feb-14 17:19:37

I wish my Granspals good night. I shall return tomorrow. Enjoy your Friday evening. I'm hoping that by some miracle of modern technology, dear bags will call in with some extra date and lemon flapjacks. Biscuit tin is full of crumbs at the moment wink

Iam64 Fri 07-Feb-14 18:31:39

Nelliemoser - please sing even louder. I haven't popped in for a while, and will do so more often. It's such a jolly kitchen extension to visit. Time for a glass of wine.

Thistledoo Fri 07-Feb-14 18:56:53

Hello Soop, don't pop in here too often but thought I would just poke my nose in and see if I could scrounge a bit of cake or perhaps a slice of toast. So glad McSporran got on well at the Victoria in Glasgow, that must be such a relief all round. Rory sounds in good form, Jojo sends lots of purry kisses. Off to Glasgow myself on the 20th to get a flight to Southampton to see elderly relatives which are now in a very nice care home.

Icyalittle Fri 07-Feb-14 20:47:29

That is great news, soop. You must both be feeling so much lighter and brighter, no wonder McSporran's smile was so wide. I just wish the weather would do likewise.
bags' flapjack sounds delicious - please put the recipe up for us.

thatbags Sat 08-Feb-14 07:40:57

Recipe for date slices here. I've just had one with my morning cuppa smile.

Nelliemoser Sat 08-Feb-14 08:26:01

What I like about that picture of Mr McSporran on Soops page is how awkwardly he is having to hold that quite heavy looking book so as to still accommodate Rory on his lap.

LizG Sat 08-Feb-14 08:28:22

So pleased to read your news soop that has given me a good start to the day. Thanks for the recipe thatbags

whenim64 Sat 08-Feb-14 08:33:01

Good to see your positive news about MacSporran, soop smile

soop Sat 08-Feb-14 12:14:17

It's awfully wet and windy in bonnie Kintyre. The sea is lively. The islands are hiding behind a thick mist. Rory poked his nose out of the door - sniffed, turned around in a tight circle [saving energy] and went back to bed.

I have shown all your kind messages to MacSporran he has asked me to say a huge thank you and sends (((hugs))) grin

Thanks, bags for sharing your recipe. The additional lemon juice give the flapjacks the wow factor.

Iam64 and Thistledoo Welcome back to the kitchen. The more friendly Granspals who drop by, the merrier.

Nellie Rory is a large cat. He is heavy. He takes up a lot of lap-space. He's also a very "sweet" pussy cat. He has developed a super-friendly nature since his op'.

LizG Icyalittle and when fresh coffee in the pot. A plate of tartan shortbread [shop bought] ready for the sharing.

England play Scotland in the Six Nations at 4.30 this afternoon. I shall be shouting loudly for Scotland but I fear that my support won't bring about a win. Who else will be watching?

MiceElf Sat 08-Feb-14 13:19:47

Splendid news Soop. So pleased for you both, and a special cuddle for Rory. I shan't be watching sport. I shall be sitting by the fire and nursing the cut on my cheek which I got from a totally unexpected hailstone as I was walking back from the pillar box. One minute the sky was blue, the next it was as black as Newgate's knocker and the ground covered in hailstones.
