Not sure about the FLASH in the repeating line. Flash can = ostentatious or a quick glimpse, but here it may well be short for 'quick as a flash'.

Did some ironing and then pushed myself really hard on my exercise bike. Just ten minutes...now I'm knackered. I therefore deduce that I'm seriously unfit. I shall cool off and share some time with you lot before a further ten five minute sprint.

Galen I only ever knit scarves...the longer, the better. I would love to be able to follow a pattern, but whenever I've tried, I have failed big time. Does anyone suppose that my inability to follow a knitting pattern is linked to being perplexed by maths? Bet bags will know the answer. To which family are you referring. Did they eat too much white pudding? Where did they live?

My one gran used to do a lot of Arran knitting. I can't knit.

I started to knit a Guernsey long ago but found the navy blue wool was quite tiring on the eyes. I probably needed glasses at the time but didn't want to get my eyes tested!

Guernseys were knitted in five-ply wool and mostly in dark greens or blues. #moreuselessinformation

I've had white pudding a few times and it's delicious, spicier than black pudding.

I meant black pudding coming , but I did note they'd got the hogs (white) pudding as well.

Gansey is a fisherman's jumper in Cornwall so must be similar to the ganzie (guernsey) - depends on the accent I suppose.
I did start to knit one for a boyfriend many years ago but finished with him (or he with me can't remember) before the jumper was finished, it took me so long to knit.
We used to get hog's pudding in Devon which I think is similar to white pudding. DH loves black pudding, Tesco do one plus they stock one by the bury black pudding company.
Off I go now to clean up some of the mess from the decorating, having been out all morning.

They have it at ocado. I've got some coming this pm. All the ones I've tried to date are dry and tasteless c/f the ones made by my old local butcher in wednesbury.
The whole family were so overweight they could only wright themselves on the abattoir scales, and when the wife died , they had to remove the window to get the body out as it wouldn't go through the door.

mealie jammies = white pudding i.e. like a black pudding but made with onions, oatmeal, suet etc.

safties = soft rolls, floury on top, like baps

foonert = fed up, weary

Funnily enough the word that had me stumped was INGAN which on second reading is obviously ONION. Like the Dundee request 'Wi an ingin in an aw' = 'Please add an onion to my order'

Charleygirl Thanks for taking a look at the long poem. I particularly like the phrase: I'm scunnert and I'm foonert. Does that mean I'm "worn out" or what?

It sound like North East dialect, soop. Aberdeenshire, maybe. I have no idea what safties and mealy jammies are, though a ganzie is a jumper, like a Guernsey.

The only words I have not heard before are safties, mealy jammies and ganzie.

I have an electric bath seat now but very rarely use it. I had a walk in shower fitted in the bedroom when both Peter and I had our hips replaced.
So far I've had a bit of a lie in, sorted out the homemade yoghurt, noted utility warehouse are doubling my bill ( told em they'd set it too low) and made a coffee. I've also uploaded a couple of new photos of tiddler and toddler (with great difficulty I might add! Every time I try to upload one it deletes 2?).
I'm having a lot of difficulty with GN today. Every time I try to go on spite it makes me log in again even though the 'keep me logged' in is ticked!

Phew! Good to be here with you lot...I've had such a hectic morning. MacSporran left at breakfast time because the car needs a check over in Campbeltown. So, what to do. I made the decision to top and tail all the kitchen cupboards and wipe all units out with a mild solution of Milton. At first, it seemed like a good idea. Two hours later, all sweaty and with hair hanging over my face, I was wiping the very last item [a pot of Marmite] and neatly placing it, just so, on a sparkling shelf. Rory kept well away. The sound of the vacuum cleaner and me harrumphing was, it seems, off putting. Where did the clutter that I've taken to the bin come from? Why had I not disposed of it ages ago? Why was it so dusty under and behind the microwave? As for the duster/rag/polish box... An utter disgrace. I cannot blame anyone other than myself for being a messy mare. I have made a pot of coffee and come to be with you because I know full well that you'll understand how proud I'm feeling for doing a good morning's housework. Hang on while I adjust my halo.

anno We took a bag of books to a charity shop. The lady kept all the paper backs but said that there was little call for hardback books. Curious!

Lona I had my bath removed 3 years ago to fit in a shower- there was not enough space for both and anyway because of all the metal work in my knee and ankle I could no longer get in and out of a bath safely.

Yes, I am so looking forward to that shower. I am not sure what I will do if he cannot fix it this afternoon and maybe has to order a spare part. Ah well, I will see what happens.

I have solar water heating so the hot water will be free which is something. After all of the water we have had fall out of the sky recently I have no qualms using more water than usual.
