Just wandered in here, what a mess it is this morning! You haven't cleaned up the bar yet Pete! Just a coffee and a well buttered scone please as I have a busy day ahead. Who left all these racing newspapers lying around [Tegan?]Why are the darts all on the floor, and what on earth is that shiny pole doing in the bar?

boheminan Mon 10-Mar-14 14:06:18

rosesarered I was thinking just how tidy the place is looking todaygrin
(PETE? Pint of sherry please). I 'spect the pole's the remains from the famous Fireman Incidenthmm

Pete Mon 10-Mar-14 19:37:16

rose ....as much as I like you.... the name BAR means most people order a pint of Beer/Lager/Cider/Gin /Vodka and Sherry for Bo ...so not much call for coffee........Scones are available when glam has called in. smile

The pole does need a spruce up......no further comments from this side of the bar.... grin

Lona Mon 10-Mar-14 20:33:38

Pete It was the firemen! They just wouldn't leave the pole alone! You should've seen the things they were getting up to shock
I blame that Ana, she's wild when she starts on the blob.

Anyway, I was minding my own business in the corner with the fire chief and I saw everything!!

wink

Ana Mon 10-Mar-14 20:39:27

'Starts on the blob'??? It's been a few years, Lona!confused
(I know I look incredibly young, but...)

Anne58 Mon 10-Mar-14 20:42:23

grin Ana !

I won't be able to watch the first day of Cheltenham tomorrow sad because I will be doing a good deed

Lona Mon 10-Mar-14 22:04:39

Don't play the 'innocent' card Ana................ wink

Ana Mon 10-Mar-14 22:09:53

Still confused, Lona. Now, if you'd said 'when she starts on the razzle' or even 'on the booze'....anyway, you've got room to talk. That fire chief was only supposed to be checking the fire extinguishers and you bamboozled him with the soda syphon!

Lona Mon 10-Mar-14 22:33:01

('On the blob' is what they used to say about the drinkers in Yates Wine Lodge.) No offence intended! wink

I'm good at bamboozling....I think hmm

Ana Mon 10-Mar-14 22:52:41

The fire chief thought so too, Lona. Or so he told me when he'd regained the power of speech...grin

(No offence taken - I've never heard that expression as regards drinking, and I remember Yates Wine Lodge in Manchester very well, especially the sawdust on the floor!)

Lona Tue 11-Mar-14 08:54:49

My first arrest was a drunk who came out of Yates in M/cr and then put the window in!
When I went to court I had to repeat what he'd slurred to me.....the F word. shock Horror! blush

I was such an innocent then! grin
Of course, I still am wink

annsixty Tue 11-Mar-14 09:06:19

Wasn't a blob an actual drink in Yates Wine Lodge? In the deep recess of my mind I seem to recall warm? sweet Australian wine.Or have I lost it all together?

Lona Tue 11-Mar-14 09:09:27

Yes, it was ann, you're not losing anything unless you stay late for a drink with Pete! hmm

annsixty Tue 11-Mar-14 09:12:31

It obviously won't do then in pete's with the sophisticated palates of his regulars.

rosesarered Tue 11-Mar-14 11:24:56

No coffee or scones? What kind of a place is this?! oh yes, I forgot it's a sports bar in town. I'm too used to Cotswolds pubs aren't I? [adjusts Hermes silk scarf, buttons up waxed jacket, puts leash on the black Labrador, and walks out, sniffing disdainfully.] grin

Galen Tue 11-Mar-14 11:48:01

Pint of the usual please!

annsixty Tue 11-Mar-14 12:18:22

roses Pete does have hooks for our whippets, will that be ok?

Pete Tue 11-Mar-14 12:41:51

Blobs are always available! With or without sugar.....

Anne58 Tue 11-Mar-14 17:41:40

Well, got back in time to watch some of Cheltenham, some grin and some sad

Charleygirl Tue 11-Mar-14 18:13:08

rosesarered I am assuming that you had your "Chelsea tractor" at the door as I doubt if you could cope, living around that area without one. The dog will be well used to travelling in it.

Galen Tue 11-Mar-14 19:03:19

I'm still waiting Pete! I know an Englishman takes his time! But!
