Young people get such a bad press but things are so tough for them now. I have an autistic grandchild (high-functioning but it still blights every aspect of life) and I can't imagine her future. Where there are no jobs for graduates, what hope is there for kids with problems?

I hope to have similar news this year about my GD who graduated last summer. She worked al her time at uni and has worked in pub and recently a shop s well ever since. Driving test on Wednesday... Fingers crossed.

My son too studied for 3 years and still works in a branch of Cafe Rouge, he was a mature student and came back home when his relationship of 5 years ended. He also says he can work there and still find time to utilise his skills learned in his own time until he finds the job he wants.

I shall be you, in five years' time, probably! Mine has just started uni but I really cannot see him making a living from being a composer... However, he says that he can always stack shelves in Tesco and write in his spare time! So congratulations to your son, getting any job at the moment is tough, mine can't even get a Saturday job in Cambridge.

He's on permanent late shift so no worries about getting up .
It's not what he spent 3yrs at college for, but who gives a ..... He certainly doesn't.
