Soops kitchen extension 2

Animals are such good companions. MacSporran and I were saying only this morning, that Rory has given us heaps of pleasure.

Alie your Spice has lived to a very ripe old age. The oldest cat I ever knew, lived to reach 24. What does that translate to compared with human life expectancy?

Although it is a chilly day, the sun is shining from a near cloudless sky. The sea is frisky. The islands look misty and mysterious.

We've been for our morning walk through the village. We took along a "grabber" and a large black sack. The layby where we park the car, attracts rubbish...empty cans and bottles, crisp and chocolate wrappings, and plastic bags that manage to get shredded and cling to the brambles. I cannot understand the mentality of folk who cannot be bothered to take their rubbish home for disposal.

Tinker, our dog, is not allowed on our bed at home but when we are away in the motorhome she reckons she can break all the rules. Yes space is very limited and she is a big lurcher but we always find her a comfortable corner either under the front seats or by the back door. She has her own bed.

During the night I hear her slithering across the floor and then manoeuvring herself on to the side of me where she sleeps happily with her head on my pillow. It is a good job we have a 6' x 6' bed and she does keep me cosy

In my last house my previous cat could not be found when I returned from work in the winter. I soon realised that the bump half way down the bed under the duvet was my baby boy. How he breathed I have no idea! They always look out for number 1.

Tara, my present cat, when the mood takes her, sleeps on my pillow, naturally leaving me little to rest my head on but provided that she is comfortable, that is fine. She does not do it often as the pillow is memory foam and she is not its greatest fan. I do not think that it is squidgy enough for her.

Charleygirl While you are asleep the cat/s edge up to you for warmth and contact and you edge away a bit, and the cat moves up a bit more!
So you end up on the edge of the bed in danger of being pushed off by your Moggy! I remember it well. Never mind the cat under the covers with head on the pillow!

I woke this morning to find myself lying diagonally across the bed. Tara naturally had grabbed the place where my feet normally lie. Why she cannot lie on the other side of the bed, top, middle or bottom, spreading herself out and annoying nobody, I do not know. Anyway she will be there for a few hours yet, her beauty sleep is important.

It is very cold here so I may put the heating on. While the house is warming up I will pop in for a coffee and stroke Rory if I am not disturbing his slumbers. I do realise that it is very early for a cat.

Got my fresh air today standing on the bottom rung of the ladder while the OG cleared out the guttering, lots of shouts of 'Don't look up!' I really didn't want him to do it but he is very, very determined Taurean.
Hoping the moon is up as I settle back on the chaise with a bedtime drink.
Would love to see its reflection on the glassy calm sea.

I have Spice who will be 20 next month...mostly she sleeps, is a bit unsteady on her feet, but still eats well....

We have Oscar and Missy (once named 'Hissy' by a foster mum) she has never hissed at us and suits her new name. She has also been Kat and Mugwai - don't ask. We obtained our two little gorgeous ones when my friend died and her daughter was about to emigrate to Australia with her two brothers who already live there.

Need the sea soop so have found the kitchen and have popped in for some spiritual strokes.

The sun is shining but it is a bit cold here. I am having a slob's day, I cannot be bothered to do much except read the newspaper. Tara has not woken up yet and is still slumbering om my bed. Now would be a good time to stick a nose outside but no, she will do that later and it is dark.

Oh, that's lovely. I shall pop in later - doing washing just now....and checking in here....and checking emails....playing Minecraft......back to the washing.

The sun has got his hat on...hip hip hip hooray! I can see a seal bobbing his head out of the water...which is as calm as a millpond. MacSporran and Rory are about to tidy the garden shed. I shall read the Sunday papers. We treat ourselves to newspapers at the weekend only; one of our cost cutting thingies. I used to enjoy having my hair dressed every week at OAP rates...do it myself these days.

Oh, Granny23 you've made MacSporran and me chuckle. Many thanks for the veggie broth. I shall cut some thick slices of fresh granary bread to go with it.

kittylester Long ago, I had a cat called Fluffy. She got herself firmly wedged behind an old fashioned radiator. As she struggled to free herself she dislocated her hip. A very kind vet nursed her back to health and, would you believe, didn't charge me...a) because I didn't have pet insurance and b) because he thought Fluffy had been very brave. He did say that the shock would have killed most cats.

Amazing what you find behind the computer....but all my bookmarks are down behind the head of my bed and I can't get at them - will have to wait for a grandson!
Does anyone else read one book upstairs, one down and one in the loo? - this is why I have so many bookmarks!

It has been really dark and dreich here today so I decided to fish out the artificial sunlight lamp from behind the computer desk. Ensconced in the entanglement of wires I found umpteen pens and pencils, two lighters, a DGS's missing slipper, my missing glove, the bank statement I have searched for for months, 2 ASDA green tokens, (unused) cotton buds galore, a book of stamps and the lovely card I bought for DH's Christmas and then lost. Now got the lamp on but it is all my 'finds' that have brightened my day

I have kept 2 portions from the huge pot of veggie broth prepared for family who are now not coming for tea and will leave the rest here in the kitchen, still hot and smells DE-LISH-OUS (Yum)

I really miss it....I was born by the sea, had holidays by the sea, and now live about as far as you can get in Britain from it.....

Our part time cat was found squashed between the top of the double radiator but under the windowsill! The radiator is so hot I can't keep my hand on it for more than about ten seconds.

The sun was shining in London today but not for long, more of the wet stuff on its way.

Tara has rested her eyes for at least 6 hours and has now come downstairs to warm her backside on the radiator by sitting on the window ledge.

Thank you ,ffinnochio As we were driving into Campbeltown, I commented on the beautiful splashes of colour in hedgerows and fields. I would like to grow some in our garden. It's raining steadily. The wet bark of the bird cherry tree looks stunning. I think that we should light the fire and enjoy a peaceful, relaxing afternoon.

Just popped in with some red Cornus stems to brighten up the kitchen table.

The wee boy was not missing after all. Such sad closure for all those people who searched high and low for him.

It appears that the wee boy was seen making his way to a park. His mother's nerves must be in shreds. I would need to be sedated. And yes, as you say, anything concerning a lost child makes me think of our little one.
AlieOxon If you would like a picture window, you shall have one. The chaise longue can be moved so that you're able to look out over the sea as you drink your afternoon tea. In our kitchen, virtually everything is possible.
