It turned out his father was about 5 yards away. His father thought the son knew me and he was trying to work out who I was as he thought he had met me before.
We had a chat for a few minutes after and it turned out we had worked in buildings only a few yards from each other so I think he may have seen me going in to work but I can not remember speaking to him before.

GDs often tell me things which I laugh at and say " that can't be right, don't you mean such and such " This week elder GD has been talking about going on holiday to Moo house and I kept saying " Mulhouse " turns out it is a very nice rental property, sleeps ten, in Northumberland and called the Moo house.

Be seen and not heard or brought up to walk with kings nor lose the common touch.

Can' t stand kids who start chatting to you when out. I always think they don't get enough attention from their own people.Or too much.

I guess the little boy seemed to be telling porkies but no, he was quite right!

True Stansgram it's very hard for shy children.

Always nice to hear children talking politely, and also nice to hear adults talking politely, but unfortunately that is not always the case.

My remark to Frank was rather flippant! Of course it is good if children can talk easily to people (as long as a parent/grandparent/responsible person is there to make sure all is well.)

I would be pleased if my DGCs could converse with strangers with confidence. Shy children are difficult.

sunseeker my litte grandsons make it their business to speak to anyone in listening distance when we eat out! Usually along the lines of 'what's your name? Are you having a pudding? Is that your dad? (often someone the same age)'

As long as they're polite, and the other diners don't mind, they start up lots of friendly chat

I am more concerned that a small boy was speaking to strangers! Didn't you advise his father about that Frank

I'm confused. Am I meant to gain some understanding of the meaning of life from this ? LOL
