The whole issue about women having to be "suitable" if they are to marry a potential king I find sickening and degrading to women as a whole. Were such investigations re sexual history carried out, for instance, on the duke of Edinburgh, before he married a potential queen?
I have no time for the system of monarchy but I did like Diana and felt she had been very dishonestly treated from the outset. After all the weeping and wailing following her death, I was surprised how quickly the royal family's reputation was restored (though perhaps a succession of lavish ceremonial occasions and the continual support of the media has helped).
