Noticing a post by RoseyPosey reminded me of a conversation with DGS Sandy who told me that he gets called SandyPandy by some of his classmates. This set me thinking as to why these rhyming nicknames usually utilise the letter P for the second part. Examples from my experience - WinniePinnie, HarryParry, SuzyPoosey, GeorgiePorgy, JeanniePeenie, LennyPenny and HennyPenny. DGS wanted to know why he did not get SandyCandy or SandyDandy and I had to admit I had no idea. Anyone got any reasons behind this phenomenon? Or perhaps examples which disprove the theory?
