How many are aware of the local Gransnet

I know of the Brighton and Hove and Kingston upon Thames ones and follow them on Facebook.

No, where should I look?

Don't think Essex covered! Not heard any grans near me.

How do we find out about them?

Are you looking on the Gransnet Local list in the Forums section? It doesn't help me as I'm mostly in Portugal!

There are only 8 or so local sites with their own editors at the moment. Off the top of my head they are Brighton, Worthing, Kingston upon Thames, Chester, Blackpool, Hexham, Edinburgh, ....ummmm.... Royston? Where is that?

GNHQ keep an eye on the other ones.

Found ours but there is nothing in it yet.

Just been for a look round a couple of local ones and posted details of our local meet-up in Manchester this week. Some seem to be more developed than others.

Most of them seem to be empty. I'm not really sure what's going on - does every area need a local organiser or what? And it seems as though you have to have a different user name to post on the local sites...

I think you can have a different user name if you want to, or use the same one. You need a user name to add a listing or take out an advertisement.

It seems to me that GNHQ were expecting a mad rush to man the local sites, so planned to cover the country with them. They are now starting with just a few complete ones, with the others in place but unmanned until they appoint editors for them.

People can still add listings and ads, and presumably post to the forums, but the unmanned local sites will be monitored by GNHW in the moments they can spare from their other work, and will not have anyone sending out newsletters and arranging regular meetings, as the local editors are to do.

That is my understanding, anyway. I assume all will gradually be revealed.

I have posted both in Oxfordshire,and Oxford subject a social meet up in Banbury.
And have also posted in discussion area of Northampton.
In both cases its doing a local ET , checking to see if anyone from those areas mentioned is out there?

My local Gransnet is Chester and it looks as though someone has put a lot of work into the site so well done,there are a couple of topic's not yet activated but hey-ho it's well on the way.

The Brighton & Hove one has a lot going on. The Kingston one very little at the moment.

Wow! Having just checked my Facebook, there are loads of things going on with the Kingston upon Thames Gransnet. Must have just been added!

Anything in Fareham or Portsmouth?

Doesn't seem to be anything on the Bucks site yet either
