If there is a “Mute” button in life, what would you block out?

Dogs barking on a lovely days in the garden, when owners clearly shut them outside and then go out for the day!

I hate unnecessary background music, but especially in a medical environment. Recently I have had to endure it when giving blood; at my dentists (I actually looked forward to the drill starting!); and when I was receiving physiotherapy at an NHS centre. What I dread more than anything is finding myself in hospital for any length of time and having to listen to it when I am feeling ill and unable to move... I love music but only when I have chosen to listen to it!

The dogs on the block. And anything else that wakes me up!

Huh! It's as if I had a premonition. Just got off a flight home to Edinburgh where I was sitting next to a young man 'plugged' into his iPlayer, watching motor racing. I think I heard every engine rev and tyre squeal I think these people home in on me.......

The hiss and boom boom noises emanating from earphones plugged into iPods or personal music thingies, the owners of which are usually sitting beside you on a long train/bus/plane journey.

The (always very loud) fireworks that go off after midnight in the days leading up to and after Bonfire Night.

in fact I thought about the the mute button thing, and found that a voice button is better than it, for you can turn down the annoying things into a whispering state so that they can not affect us in life while to turn up the happiness occurred to keep those most precious moment in life, it might be a better choice.

Definately in the cinema when some bright spark has seen the film before and thinks it's a good idea to discuss the ending in a loud whisper

I'd like to mute the person sitting next to me who is snorting or criticising what I am trying to watch on tv or in the cinema; especially useful to stop them asking me to explain a plot point.

Agree with the adverts - mute button came in so handy every time a certain man came on suggesting we 'compare' things -the mute button was used so much it almost started muting by itself as soon as 'that' ad came on

Seriously though I would love to 'mute' motorbikes who scream past just as you're nodding off to sleep, a dear work colleague with a glorious Glasgow accent but who cannot hold a conversation without getting louder and louder and more high pitched every second and finally - the boss!

Oops nearly forgot - DH when he is snoring!

I`d block out hubby shouting and swearing at his PS3 game, it drives me crackers!

Oh...just seen 'mummy' out at the car, in her dressing-gown.........she must have been playing the music !

Next-door's music, today. Never usually hear much from them, but think their mum has gone out...! Getting to the point when a wee text to 'mummy' might be needed! Oh - it's suddenly gone quiet .

Adverts on TV that are much louder than the programme you've just been watching. Very annoying when I'm snoozing and DH decides to flick round to 'see what's on' What is actually on is a noisy advert on every flippin' channel.

Unwanted 'music'.

Other peoples' loud conversations on their mobile phones.

That's what I do.

Jings MR soop is a good man. He doesn't always hear what I say...but he never fails to nod or shake his head attentively.
