A new what-I-did-today thread

I ran out of my usual deodorant yesterday and picked up a different one in the supermarket on my way home from work - lavender and patchouli. Put it on this morning and now, having been at work for a couple of hours, every time I move I get a whiff of 'old lady scent' - not me at all!

Going out at lunchtime to buy my usual brand...

Apropos lost phone. I have an app on my iPad that find my phone!

I took the car to the garage because the malfunction warning light was on. Now I've had a phone call to tell me there's a big repair to be done which will make me a lot poorer.

Be strong, Tegan (easier said than done, I know!). I agree with Butty that you need to have a schedule of sorts in place that doesn't allow for SO lounging about your house. Or coming with you...

Tegan - Make a plan for yourself on paper - just the few goals you've said you want to achieve. Show it to your SO and be clear that this is how you intend to spent your important time off, and that you'd value his support in helping you enjoy and achieve your wishes. Might sound naff, but at the very least it'll keep you focused on your plans, and will keep your SO informed.

Need to somehow tell the S.O. that this is my time off and I want it to myself. He's away till Wednesday but I've got to make it clear that, just because I'm not at work, he can't just come and lounge around the house. This is not going to be easy but I'm frazzled from 5 months with no time off [and hardly any time off at Christmas] and I need to de stress .

Well done for starting as you mean to go on, Tegan! I know only too well how easy it is to let time off work just sort of slide by...Good luck!

First day of my two weeks off work. Two weeks to turn myself round and feel human again. Started off by watching one of the many films that are on my list of films I've bought over the years and not got round to watching. Need to lose some weight and get some fresh air and exercise. Must look back in 14 days and feel I've achieved something .

got stupidly tearful, as invited my sister round after work when i get in from acquacise, - she never visits - but we been in touch more since family wedding last July - she just texted got go home do my housework, catch up when weather better- just been in tears since STUPID WOMAN I MUST HARDEN UP!!!!!!!! She has 6 grandchildren and I only have 2 estranged ones so guess she is too busy see me but it hurts.

Lost my cool with DD. She's a reluctant getter-upper but gets shirty when I try to hurry her along twenty-five minutes after I've woken her. I wouldn't bother but she has a bus to catch. I really need to not care if she misses the school bus and has to get the service bus and is late for school. It's just the longish walk from the service bus-stop to school that bothers me, I think. #nopatiencewithmorningslowcoaches

Not if you manage to lose your phone when it has 'no battery left' as I do!

One needs a landline so that when one loses one's mobile phone one can ring oneself and run round one's house listening for one's favourite ring tone.

I hope you have better luck with finding your mobile phone than I did several years ago. During a period when I DIDN'T EVEN LEAVE THE HOUSE (I was ill) I managed to lose not only my mobile phone, but also one of the handsets for the house phone system. My family initially thought it was hilarious as they investigated in the fridge and freezer, drawers and cupboards etc., but were not quite so chirpy when all the bins needed to be sifted through. I was grilled as if it was the Spanish Inquisition, but I just had no idea what I'd done with them. That was about five years ago now and neither of the phones has ever resurfaced!
(Cue Twilight Zone Intro....)

Oh what a joyful day! Spent morning on difficult phone calls and worrying about things. Dropped an egg on the kitchen floor and now I've lost my mobile phone.

I think the closest smell to that of a new born baby's head is.....boiled ham!
Still lovely though.

Nellie, I can even remember that smell from when I was not quite 3 and my little sister was born! Now stop it! You're making me broody too.

I went to see my lovely 4month DGS after two visits cancelled due to the weather. He was very smiley and has lots of new skills since my last visit.

Just after lunch DD got me to feed him with a bottle of expressed breast milk to keep him used to taking the odd feed from a bottle.

I warmed the bottle up in a jug of hot water and was testing the temperature, in time honoured way by squeezing a few drops from the bottle onto the back of my hand and then automatically licking it off!
Very strange to think of doing that but as DD said she did alright on mine.

The best bit was cuddling my slightly jumpy and overtired DGS to sleep. He doesn't nap easily but after some agiitated fussing his eyes gradually closed and he relaxed and slept.

Heaven help me! I think I am getting broody all over again.

Its the effect of cuddling a small baby and sniffing his head for that lovely clean sweet baby smell. This delight in "sniffing" a baby that is your own "flesh and blood" is something men don't seem to "get"! It's probably a very basic animal instinct.

I shall call the nice man at the Cats Protection League. He supplied the traps for the females - a task and an evening we'll never forget Knowing that the snip is in the best interests of the colony of feral cats [high on the hill] doesn't make the business of persuading Rory to co-operate any easier.

Rory's family sound very canny cats, soop!
No idea how you're going to manage the vet visit, though....
