Shopping in the sales

Money is a bit tight this year so DH and I have agreed to buy each other's Christmas presents in the sales. Does anyone know which shops have the best sales and when they start? (I think Next is on Boxing Day and M&S too but not sure about the others..)
Any tips on braving it in the sales?!
