Just nipped over to Tsco and whilst waiting in queue to pay , it hit me like a bolt of lightening , so see I"m not as green as I"m cabbage looking . thanks However J. Ta ! Bit cross though, always look on reduced counter and there was one of my favourites, sushi, just went to reach for it and this got ahead of me , so what could I say apart from "you go ahead " hope he chokes on it ... should have been mine
My house is a complete tip, but I love tidying drawers. If a burglar came to my house he'd think I'd been ransacked already, but open a drawer [or a cupboard] and you're in another world [tidyland]. I suppose half the stuff lying around should probably be ina drawer or cupboard but I don't want to put them there in case they mess it up. I'm currently arranging things in my newly painted larder and it's making me very, very happy .
Oh Yuk!!! Cleaning the fridge makes me happy - just done it and I feel very good. I once read that Michael winner hasa his housekeeper throw everything out of the fridge every three days and replace with fresh! I didnt quite do that but the veg/sald box contents went on the compost.
My compost heaps are behind the garden fence underneath trees. Every now and again, I wander through the back gate into the woods and turn it over with the fallen leaves, and after a year, I am able to bring lovely, friable compost back into the garden. Works out perfectly.
There is a ditch/gap between the side of our drive and the railway enbankment beyond it, shielded from view by various trees and shrubs. We've made a couple of access points and just tip our garden waste in there - it all rots down eventually. It's like a gigantic compost heap! The garden waste bags the Council give out wouldn't hold a fraction of our grass-cuttings, hedge trimmings and the huge weeds which have flourished this summer...
Our green waste collection has always been free up until April this year when the council started charging . I wouldn't pay for the green bags they had until then been collecting free of charge and now have to bag up my green waste and take to the tip every week or so.. so annoying. Now we have green waste being dumped on the local green space..
But I know I'm lucky to have a garden/green space to potter in as so many do not.. so I'm happy
2 days ago my brown bin was delivered so now I can put all garden waste in that instead of bagging it up and taking it to the tip. Yesterday I had a great time doing -all- some of the jobs in the garden that I have been putting off. I was on a dead heading frenzy and a large unruly buddlia had a very severe hair cut. The brown bin is nearly full but I have left enough room for the grass cuttings when DGS cuts the grass for me at the weekend. I feel very good about this. It has just made one part of my life easier and made tidying the garden a more enjoyable experience.
