Wish I'd known that, crimson. Will have to wait till 10% off day for pensioners.
Heatwave now, but what’s the betting…?

On one album Roger Waters didn't sing on one track because he couldn't get it right. Some other guy did it for him [not one of the other band members] and no one noticed the difference. Waters had the audacity to say in the programme that, if he had got it right it would have been 'much better'. Felt like screaming at the telly ,but you didn't/couldn't you **. Gilmore's music is boredom personified. Rick Wright was probably the unsung hero [along with dear Syd]. Alas, my trip to B&Q resulted in buying loads of plants because they [unknown to me before I went] are having a 'two for one' day.
Yes, Mick has always been a physical fitness type - his dad Joe was a mountaineer and introduced Mick to the outdoor life from a young age. Keith is a musical genius - his biography is one of the best I've read. Alway thought Pink Floyd very up themselves - they play like no-one else is listening. Perhaps if Syd Barratt had stayed around they would have been less pretentious.
That's me gone - off to BBQ
I think Mick Jagger went through the druggie phase quite quickly and has, for the most part been a cricket loving non smoking 'my body is a shrine' sort of bloke. Keith, on the other hand seems to be a 'my body can take anything that get's thrown at it' sort of guy, although from the book [of which I am now an expert and could do a 'Mastermind' on the life and times of Keith Richards..whimim64 knows what I mean
by this..] I gather it's because he always took the best quality drugs. What I must do, not being a Stones fan, is listen to all of their albums and listen to the guitar properly, because I never realised how important Keith was/is to the development of their music. I saw part of a programme about Pink Floyd the other night; I was always a Syd Barratt fan and realised how much a] the group have fed off Syd's image over the years and b] how anal they were/are. Why am talking about this anyway. I'll away to B&Q and stop blathering [probably procrastinating again....]
Well if they have Jacey it's obviously keeping them in good health!!
Just off to do the same - BBQ with family, lots of goodies and several bottles of wine awaiting us. The children will be paddling and working their way through ice-cream and lollies whilst I absolve myself of any responsibility for anyone but myself today.
You mean whenim64 that their organs have been well pickled???
Er....excuse me! Mick Jagger was a lovely fresh-faced boy when he was younger, and if you look back at the photos from the 60s and early 70s, he was very clean-cut and looked like a college boy. He and Keith have obviously got healthy genes to have survived what they put themselves through in earlier life, so no matter what they look like on the outside, they're probably fitter than many of us of the same generation - still love 'em
I thought mick jagger was BORN wrinkly!
The Stones have been wrinklies for a long time!
Tom Jones, Cliff Richard err...
We wondered if the Russian grannies all fitted inside each other?
Perhpas next year we could get a group of similar aged male songsters [including The Hump] together to do a Russian Grannies type thing. Any ideas on who could be called up? Who's old and still sings? Oh it is a beautiful day, isn't it. A garden day, methinks......
Didn't watch Eurovision Song Contest (not since Pearl Carr and Teddy Johnson?), but had to laugh at the tweet that said that Engelbert Humperdinck is older than 22 European countries. DH said "What, put together?".
Mine too on this beautiful sunny Sunday.
... and mine
Just to say my thoughts are with all of you
My thoughts are with you too I have been visiting Christie's hospital where three of the four women in my sister's ward all had news that no more could be done for them. They took this news with such dignity and inspired my sister to believe she could also accept such news when she sees her consultant ths week. We are all optimistic because we can see an improvement in her. The wait is such an ordeal but we have so much to be thankful for as she is still with us and enjoying family life, feeling stronger than she has been and her sense of humour is sharper than ever. A lovely day for her to enjoy today
Thank you Ariadne Elegran you are right - the waiting is the worst thing.
Have just posted on the ongoing "is any one up yet" thread but just wanted to say my thoughts are with you, specki and gracesmum xxx
gracesmum kitty I do hope you get better news soon. Waiting is almost worse than knowing.
gracesmum [flowers] Aren't those dreams horrid, they take all day to get over. We are waiting for an email from an old friend about their visit to the consultant after the husband had radio therapy on a tumour. It's nearly a week since they had their appointment so we are fearing the worst. I imagine if it was good news we would have heard. [sad]
specki [flowers] too. That is sad for all of you.
I'm off to the garden centre now and aim to spend the rest of the day pottering in the sunshine.
Sent you a pm as I couldn't post!
So I am the first to initiate a new thread on this topic - gosh.
Have been up since 1/4 to 5 after a night of the most awful, lurid, x-rated dreams - like a chain saw massacre horror film of the type I was going to say I would never dream of watching. Luckily grace whimpered so I let her out, boiled kettle and here I am.
Specki[flowers] I am so sorry for your sadness and can imagine how you are suffering as a loving mum.Do they have children? Keep strong and let us know how you and they fare.
My mind is clearly unsettled, perhaps because a dear friend sounds as if she may not have long to live, in end stage liver cancer and I logged on to see if there was a reply to an email to a mutual friend. So much sadness in the world and yet also, at 5.15 with the birds singing their little hearts out, so much beauty.
