GillieB I was very surprised! I thought it might be because they are between vicars at the moment, and perhaps the lay people were running away with themselves a bit! But I see from your post that it is getting to be the norm.

Regarding a child taking communion, it is the practice at quite of lot of churches now that as long as they have been baptised (and, of course, adults too, who are in this situation) anyone can take communion even though they have not been confirmed. Our PCC had to vote to agree the change and consequently there is a note on our service sheets to that effect.

Loved the comment the little one made, though!

I was quite proud of them later on in the day Greatnan, when we went out for a walk and they were singing "Thine be the Glory" at the tops of their voices!

I remember going to Sunday School and putting my 6d collection in the plate and taking a threepenny bit out! my mother was mortified when I proudly showed it to her when I got home.
