annika, my sympathies on the loss of your friend. flowers

gally and green — fun times! smile

I've been teaching Cubs a chasing game from India called Kho Kho. It's really good and they loved it.

That was so touching, Annika. You must have given each other so much love and support. I hope her funeral is a riot of colour! smile

How lucky to have such a dear friend as you Annika. You would have lightened her life. I'm so sorry for your loss. A fitting tribute to bring that pink hat for her funeral. I hope you get comfort from that last little nod to your friendship flowers

Today I have been choosing flowers for my dear friend, who sadly died on Saturday morning.
She had been very ill for a number of years following a lung transplant . She was given 18 months to live three years ago but she was not going to give in with out a fight, and fight she did. I have never met a more stronger, braver woman than her. Most of her last few years has been in constant pain, she became house bound, needing to wear an oxgen mask for most of her day.
I used to visit her once a week, sometimes more than that if I had shopping for her. We spent many an afternoon chatting, some times crying but mostly laughing. It is surprising how when things seem so bleak the funny side of life is there, a lot of our tears were tears of laughter !
She was not only my very best mate she was also my DS mother-in-law, Nana to our grandchildren and a much loved mum to my DiL.
My wonderful son had to break the news to them that their Nana had died, they were broken hearted, the eldest who is 10 knew his Nana was dying but he has been so brave about it.
Her funeral is a week on Thursday, she left details of what she wants, with orders that no one is to wear black, bright colours only, so I have brought a bright pink top to wear !
And her flowers .... she loved her hat she wore at our sons /daughters wedding so I am having flowers and ribbons made into a hat shape in pink, ..... bright of course !

Green grin I've never heard of the doors not opening before - definitely you I think!
If it makes you feel any better, I have chronic indigestion - all I can taste is the batter [sick emoticon]
Oh dear, it is still chucking it down and the temperature is dropping rapidly; however it is good for the folk in the south who are desperate for water. A night in front of the telly ahead of me I think. Bonsoir tout le monde.

Gally - you're fibbing! The fish was so big it was hanging off the plate and was absolutely delicious -as were the chips....[greedy emoticon]! While you were leaving the sharp message on the answerphone re the charity bags, I had gone past my stop on the train because the blasted door wouldn't open (it could only happen to me!) Ended up at the next station being very angry with the guard, who'd eventually made himself available. He said that if I hopped over to the other side of the track, I would get another train home in 3 minutes. 45 minutes later, I got my train.....! Sharp email to Scotrail will be winging its way shortly!! Why did DH think it was so funny when I phoned him from that dreary station in the bucketing rain? I think it's perhaps because I laughed yesterday when the parrot got stuck down the back of the dresser.......confused grin

gally grin

jeni Wed 25-Apr-12 17:37:54

What is this face book emoticon. What have I missed while I've been slaving awayconfused

Gally Wed 25-Apr-12 17:34:12

Now now Glass don't be mean - it was only a small fish and she left most of the 'french fries' - (they were very posh ones) wink

glassortwo Wed 25-Apr-12 17:32:17

Gally glad you both had a lovely day ( but wait till that Gnset friend finds out I know she has had fish and chips grin ) wink

Gally Wed 25-Apr-12 17:22:35

Thank you all for you supportive messages. I would feel better if the wretched charity had turned up to collect the 5 large bags which are still on the doorstep in a state of extreme sogginess due to constant downpour! Feel better now that I have left a none-too polite message on their answerphone grin
I have had a lovely day today, despite the cold and rain, chatting non-stop and eating naughty fish and chips with a GNetter who lives not far from me.

yogagran Wed 25-Apr-12 14:09:43

Thoughts are with you Gally in your difficult task flowers

glammanana Wed 25-Apr-12 13:50:14

Syberia That would have been a "Liverpudlian" blue but not really a bad one as he is very aware of my sensitive hearing (I don't miss a word)[grin0

soop Wed 25-Apr-12 13:27:17

Gally You are doing so well. flowers
Green You are a scream grin

harrigran Wed 25-Apr-12 12:09:12

Gally well done you smile can I just remind you to check suit and jacket pockets. When my Mum gave away Dad's suits there was £200 in the back pocket of a pair of trousers, the money was returned which surprised us.

greenmossgiel Wed 25-Apr-12 09:47:01

It was verging on a dark, dark navy blue.....muttered under his breath (I hope), as he took the cane the cane back down to the shed grin!

imjingl Wed 25-Apr-12 09:38:59

greenmossgiel grin grin

Sounds a lot like the happenings in our house!

syberia Wed 25-Apr-12 09:17:29

glammanana would that have been Norwegian blue? (large groan emoticon grin)
