Today I've been mainly.......Volume 4

Still sunny in the midlands, so if she is south of the Watford Gap, she should be fine. It's a long, long drive though. I used to drive up to my parents in Scotland. It was a full day and sometimes I would feel I was never going to get there. These days, we break the journey when we go to visit the rellies.

On double chocolate cookie-making duty with DD. Now we're sampling.

How lovely to know first hand through bagitha that super's doing well! I'd like to have been a 'fly on the wall' during that visit! Bet Mr super couldn't get a word in edgeways!
We've got awful weather here to day in Fife. Windy and sleety snow - hard to believe after the glorious weather last week. I do know that Gally was planning to drive to her daughter's in the south of England today - I hope the roads will be ok for her.

Great to hear that Super is recovering well, and thanks Baggy for visiting and passing on our good wishes. I thought they might have found the wine under the bed,(there were a couple of us under there! )

I am recovering today from a lot of baby cuddling and looking forward to tomorrow, when my son & family are taking me to the new Jamie Oliver restaurant in Manchester. It's in the old Midland Bank building where I spent 10 years working. A beautiful listed building, all marble and mahogany, and I'm so excited!(don't get out much )

So glad that super is OK - a lovely lady. She did a picture of our grand dog at Christmas, glamma and it is so good.

Went to a Charity showing of "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" last night, and it was excellent. Judith Dench is great but what I also liked we're all the scenes in India in all its noisy glory. (Now suffering from indigestion from a nice but rather stodgy buffet! And I know, I didn't NEED to have any. But I did. Heigh ho!)

How lovely to hear that super is recovering and how nice of you ga to travel to see her and mr super. I bet the painting is fabulous I am lucky enough to have had one done at Christmas,she is an absolute star.
Yum Yums that I had when abroad where filled with custard and covered in sugar not very good for the Monday diet I think.

I am very glad all has gone well for supernana.
While DH has never had the luxury of wine with his meals in hospital (he doesn't drink anyway, but somehow I don't think you'd see it in a liver ward!), I am a total fan of the NHS and think DH would have run out of private health insurance funds decades ago. Goodness knows what he is costing the country, but thank you NHS!!

super also gave me a watercolour portrait she'd painted from a photograph of my grandson. It is utterly gorgeous and I can't thank her enough!

The yum-yums that I have had are twisted pieces of some sort of cake or doughnut with icing on them. About eight inches or so long but quite narrow and probably extraordinarily high in calories!
I live in the South East and as I said - they are available here.

It's a twist of Danish-type flaky pastry drenched in melted sugar. I loved them when I was a student (sugar fix!) but could only eat half of one today. I brought the other half home, along with all the other biscuits and cakes that had been provided with the bedtime Horlicks but which super didn't want! The wine came with super's dinner (Mr S got one too) and super wanted to get one for me but I just had a couple of sips of hers because I had to drive. One of the nicest hospital visits I've ever made!

Aren't yum-yums a bit like doughnuts? Delicious!

a) It's lovely to hear 'first hand' news of her progress.
b) It shows what a thoughtful, caring person you are
and c) It demonstrates how 'virtual' and 'real' worlds can overlap in the development of relationships.

I may be Scots, but I don't think I have ever encountered a yum-yum. I may have known it by another name. So please, someone, explain.

Our local bakery sells Yum-yums and they really do live up to their name

Yes, anagram, she didn't remember thing about us all being there revelling but she still told the surgeon and her physiotherapist about the virtual party! I think she keeps them well entertained.

I'm so glad Supernana is recovering well! Presumably she remembered absolutely nothing about the rave-up small gathering around her bed at the weekend? Just as well......
Wine, eh? Imagine that in an NHS hospital - they'd be lecturing you about units and tut-tutting!
