Where is everyone? I know I'm not the only insomniac; been awake since 3.00 and I'm now bored....

Faye Thu 12-Jan-12 07:56:53

It's early evening here now, D1 and her family stayed on an extra day and left for home yesterday afternoon. My son, DIL and their boys left on their 1500 kilometre trip home the day before. I was really sad to see them go and my youngest grandson was crying because he didn't want to leave. sad

Now D2's husband and I will get on with renovations of the old miner's cottage for the next couple of weeks. I should be taking photos as there is a lot to do, sort of before and after pictures. I am very lucky my SIL is a carpenter. Before Christmas I helped him move out some of the old walls with his father, but we planned to get onto it now Christmas is over and the families have gone home. Once he starts getting the walls up I will start painting them. smile

Hi Libradi. How are you?

Libradi Thu 12-Jan-12 06:41:07

Morning Annobel, didn't see you there smile

Libradi Thu 12-Jan-12 06:39:42

Morning Annika I hope you managed to go back to bed and get some sleep. I was like you yesterday, wide awake from about 3am onwards (after my trip to the loo) lay in bed thinking of all sorts of things then eventually came downstairs about 4am, made myself a hot drink and some toast (by that time I was feeling hungry) and ended up falling asleep in the armchair. Felt groggy when DH came down about 7am but survived the day and had a good nights sleep until 6am today.

Annobel Thu 12-Jan-12 06:32:29

I hope you did the latter, Annika. I am awake earlier than usual and have been reading some Sherlock Holmes stories that I got free for the Kindle. They do wear well. I will attempt to get some more sleep soon, Maybe have a go at a crossword on line to tire myself out!

Annika Thu 12-Jan-12 03:43:09

Here I am again, morning to anyone out there who is wide awake like me.
I have been awake for sometime all sorts of nonsense has been going around in my head, I have pondered on the subject of what shall I give my DD and her lot for a dessert on Sunday as they are coming over for the day. I've got lunch sorted.
Now do I go and clean the oven or take myself back to bed and try to get some sleep ? hmm

glass as the nuns who tried to teach me would have said"deus volente"

Annobel Wed 11-Jan-12 08:00:32

Thanks goodness for that, glass! hmm

Carol Wed 11-Jan-12 07:53:47

Sounds interesting glass. Are you doing something exciting, or just plain busy?

glassortwo Wed 11-Jan-12 07:46:36

Morning all, just to let you know I dont think I will have time to be bored today grin

JessM Wed 11-Jan-12 07:36:36

Hi Butternut hope you start to feel better today.

Toddlers have a two-pronged attack when they get a virus. 1. their immune system reacts vigorously producing gallons of snot that they have not yet learned to keep to themselves. Just wipe it everywhere and share the love
2. Their immune systems, in their wisdom, make toddlers specially clingy and affectionate at these times. This is probably no coincidence - got a cold and don't want to be left behind by the nomadic tribe. Get clinging and you are more likely to survive.

Butternut Wed 11-Jan-12 07:28:24

Good morning early birds!

glass - just to say I thought yesterday's boredom buster was brilliant - lots of fun. thanks

yogagran Tue 10-Jan-12 22:17:32

I liked the article in The Telegraph recently that said that children were "germ factories"
Hope you soon feel better ga - take care of yourself

Ariadne Tue 10-Jan-12 14:52:09

Enjoy the peace, ga. It's always nice to restore order after the DGC have gone home, much as we love them, as we so often say on GN.

Annobel Tue 10-Jan-12 11:04:04

Poor you, GA - grandchildren are a joy, but it's always nice to hand them back to mum. Also, I've found that toddlers are toxic, but they do seem to grow out of it! In the meantime, get ready to put your feet up and have a brew.

grannyactivist Tue 10-Jan-12 10:51:05

I have a cold and sore throat and so does my husband, courtesy of our grandson who is also suffering and is two years old today. Unfortunately the birthday celebrations began in the early hours of the morning! At 2am my poor husband rescued me and he was up with the tyrant until 4am. The little one is going home today (his mum has been on a cruise which was gifted to her) and it's not a moment too soon. The house and garden have been neglected, my work ditto and husband and I are both tired out. I would love to just up sticks and get away for a few days on my own, but finances are a bit too tight for that at the moment. Tomorrow I'm going to chill out, drink tea, doze - and check out all the threads I haven't had time to read properly during the last week or so.

Annobel Tue 10-Jan-12 10:17:28

Jess wink

JessM Tue 10-Jan-12 10:12:17

Get the feeling jeni not having a good morning?
I suppose the wink emoticon kind of covers it. Winking has gone right out of fashion hasn't it.

Annobel Tue 10-Jan-12 09:21:35

Could we have a 'little ray of sunshine(ironic)' emoticon?

jeni Tue 10-Jan-12 08:43:50

Oh well. Hi ho it's off to work we go (under breath and out of tune) bye all, will login this evening.

jeni Tue 10-Jan-12 08:38:52

Carol Tue 10-Jan-12 08:31:05

Have a good day ay work, Jeni. It's going to be a fine day, and it's another day nearer spring x

Oldgreymare Tue 10-Jan-12 08:30:51

Mornin' all, just got the brain in gear with a game or two of Scrabble. Chiropodist today then I shall be walking on air!!!

jeni Tue 10-Jan-12 08:25:49

Good morning ladies. Isn't it lovely to be alive today? (says she through gritted teeth, with false grin plastered on face and viewing world through distinctly jaundiced eyes!) coffee made just listen to news, then off to work again! Isn't I've wonderful?hmm

Oxon70 Tue 10-Jan-12 08:25:13

Morning everybody!
Getting light here, but dull. Awake early but not able to go back to sleep, have been reading - got a Dick Francis session on. Finished that one.
Planning to do a little gentle painting today so I have my painting clothes on.
