Yes indeed volver. It was a very sad time for the royal family, and also for thousands upon thousands of ordinary people. Although I would prefer a republic, I can understand that people were sad and needed to grieve in their own way. The press have reported that the Queen planned her own funeral down to the last detail. It was certainly very ostentatious in my view, but it was what she wanted and as our HofS who reigned for seventy years, I think that was okay. I hope our next state funeral will not be so ostentatious or expensive.
It was a coincidence that Harry and Meghan were here, as they were apparently appearing at a couple of engagements to do with Harry’s charities. It was reported that they refused an invitation to Balmoral to see the Queen. If that is the case, Harry will have to live with that for the rest of his life. It was also reported that Harry arrived later than the others at Balmoral because he wasted time trying to persuade Charles that Meghan should go with him. Whatever, he was the last to arrive. It was reported that Harry turned down an invitation to dine with his father and brother at his father’s Scottish residence on the night of the Queen’s death and he was photographed leaving Balmoral early the next morning.
Whilst being fully aware of the foibles of the press, it seems unlikely to me that all of this has been completely made up, it is likely very near the truth and has been leaked. Some of it is verifiable by photographs. I think therefore that the royals have reached out and been rebuffed at every turn. It is also reported that Charles is very saddened by the rift between himself and Harry. As a parent, I’m sure he is devastated.
