Is that a critique of the book? I thought that this thread was about critiquing a book?
I would scarcely write a critique of a book when I have not yet been able to access the text.
Does anyone have this jumpsuit?

Well it was on the BBC and I love children's books!
I was interested to see what this book was all about so took a quick look. Let's be fair, it is a first attempt.
The illustrations are lovely, very soft almost pastel shades, ideal for gentle bedtime reading. Yawn.
The people are a bit thin and wooden and I was disappointed the dogs weren't in the book.
Now for the rhyming. I'm not sure about the cadence, very contrived. Where are all the commas?
I don't know when to breathe.
The script is tiny, I need two pairs of glasses. Actually, come to think of it the print should be far bigger if it is designed for younger children to read
Would you buy it for your grandchildren? Does it resonate and get any message across? £12.99 reduced to £9.99. Is you want it, please hurry it might just sell out.

Well everybody else seems to be managing to do that. The OP is a critique of the book...

The book we saw Meghan reading (or trying to read) to Archie some time ago, the Oprah endorsed one I think, looked pretty boring, ‘Duck Rabbit’ the title?
Poor Archie kept squirming away, didn’t seemed captivated by it. Let’s hope Meghan’s is better received by him.And do it continues - drip after drip after drip
I've just googled and seen Duck Rabbit read on youtube. I doubt the storyline would engage or mean anything to many children under two, and the illustration wasn't especially eye catching. You found it a good children's book then sw?
As I posted earlier apparently there are similarities to the story and the illustrations.
Perhaps you should remove your 'hating anything that isn't 100% in favour of M' spectacles which may then enable you to focus on what is posted and not what you think has been posted.

Why did you post without checking - apparently is just a weasley get out of jail word to try and excuse accusing someone of plagiarism.
Well apparently you are mistaken.
Perhaps you should remove your 'hating anything to do with M' spectacles which may then enable you to focus on the value or otherwise of the book instead of attacking the author with unfounded allegations?
BTW, the text of the book looks awful. I wouldn't buy it for any children I know. I like the pictures though.

Where did I post that - still, most posters on this thread work hard on their fiction skills don’t they?

Well your drip drip comment seemed to oppose Calendargirl's criticism of the book?? Please don't worry you head the race for hyperbole, and are well placed in the fiction stakes, especially about you being always right about everything.
Sw, I thought you hated general references to "most" or "some" posters? Have the guts to name names, like you tell others to.

I've seen that too Sparklefizz. Corrine Averiss' book published in 2018 'The Boy and the Bench' about a father and son bonding; oh dear*
I hope Corrine Averiss sues!Try putting down your knitting needles and reading the Boy on the Bench . It has nothing at all to do with a boy bonding with his father on a bench.
Hahaha! "My knitting needles" eh ?
You are one of the reasons suziewoozie that I have been giving GN a 2-month break! You are never able to resist handing out an insult or nasty comment.

Fair point. Sparklefizz and Smileless are accusing MM of paganism based on rumour snd not facts.
Or plagiarism even.
Oh dear oh dear suziewoozie "a weasley get out of jail word" if only you could put forward your point of view in a more pleasant way.
apparently - as far as one knows or can see.
Nothing "weasley" about it and used correctly in my earlier post.
[susiewoozie]
i don't understand the reason for mentioning knitting needles.
can you explain?
Shall we wait and see when the accusations of paganism start getting shared? Its only a matter of time.... ??
Well I read that she was a pagan!

Could you explain why you felt it was acceptable to repeat a rumour the truth about which you have admitted to knowing nothing? Is it just because you wanted it to be true and as it puts MM in an unfavourable light, you thought it was perfectly acceptable to post it? Or have I got that wrong?

^Well I read that she was a pagan!^
As well as everything else she is ???
MM does seem to be fond of "borrowing " ideas for her speeches and other activites.......I can't remember examples sadly, but if it turns out to be true that her book is very similar to anther book already published then that is a really "unkind" way to behave.
I can't get past the fact that she has detroyed her own relationship with her Dad plus her husband's relationship with his Dad. Then she writes about the importance of family bonds.
She needs to read "The Waterbabies" I think it was, with Mrs Do-As-You-Would-be-done-by".

Two posters doesn't seem to equate to "most" .........
Most:definition
determiner, pronoun, adverb
the biggest number or amount of; more than anything or anyone else:
Maybe a touch of hyperbole in your original comment then?
Just love the hypocrisy on these threads
. The RF willingly viewed by some as racist based on "rumour and not facts" because of that interview and the questionable word of two people, and yet despite numerous comments about the similarities, note the word similarities, I have at no time used the word plagiarism, these are all based on rumour and not facts.
Or could it be that the sales of MM hating spectacles are exceeding all expectations
.

Les Tricoteuses - the women who sat by the guillotine during the French Revolution knitting in between executions.

Rather than running with the rumour and speculating on it why not just read The boy on the bench?

I get that MM is hardly flavour of the month but what I don’t get is why anyone thinks it’s acceptable to spread rumours about her plagiarising a book they haven’t even bothered to read. Is it not possible to intensely disapprove of her and everything she stands for without resorting to that ?

Sorry for any confusion
My message should have read ''Who was the author ?, Meghan Markle? or HRH Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.?
Daisendl Ah, I understand now. I saw a picture of the front cover and it said the author is,
Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex
