Confused by ancient posts popping up on ‘top threads’ alert on email

The thread will get revived when someone adds a comment to the end, no matter the start date of the thread. I sometimes search Gransnet for something I’d like to seek advice on/compare notes with someone on and the search results will bring up threads on that subject, some of which may be a year or two old. Hope that helps!

But how do you revive these threads whenever I look at one perhaps to update myself with information, even if it’s a few months old, I get a picture of a cow and a corny expression that it has moooved
So my question is how to people get to read these old threads ?

Yes, me too. I rarely check the date - I just read the thread. Sometimes seeing an old poster makes me realise it's an old thread, but not always.

The first thing I look at nowadays, is the date of a thread.

Why is it only when I don't preview that I make grammatical errors? Should read 'I have seen' not 'in'.

But surely sometimes the information in an old thread is relevant to what a poster is looking for now. In have seen new threads where someone comments that there are old threads that cover this. sometimes you can't win either way.
I do agree though Cossy that when it's a problem specific to the OP you do feel a bit of a twit having imparted your well-thought out advice only to find out she posted the problem 7 years ago!

It’s so blooming annoying and if the topic interests me off I go answering, only to find the original post is de ages old and then I feel such a twit!

Sometimes it's when someone has been searching threads and found something that they feel they can add something to. This resurrects the ancient thread and gets it up and running again and so you will see it on the 'Trending' box on the home screen.
