We had a humming bird hawk moth in our garden once. (North West England)

I have seen a lot of six spot burnets (also a moth) this week but I've also for the first ever, heard a cuckoo!

We have had 3 Painted Lady butterflies on our valerian recently.

So lovely to see a beautiful moth. I hope to come across this one.

Not a butterfly but a beautiful moth I believe it’s called a white ermine and kept me company on the allotment

I think it depends where you live as to what butterflies will see.

Never heard of the Orange Tip Butterfly but it looks like a lovely creature to behold

My absolute favourites are the bright blue iridescent ones up in Queensland and the Northern Territory. Ulysses butterflies. I have seen quite a few of them, they tend to flock together.

We get several kinds of butterflies, but quite a rarity is a plain lemon yellow one. I even had one on my kitchen window sill for several days amongst the pots of herbs.

This one turned up in April - a northern speckled wood. Also not rare but not generally seen in gardens.

Butterflies would be my DH’s specialist subject if he ever went on mastermind.
Orange tips are fairly common round here.

They are fairly commonplace here though I’ve yet to see one this year - or many other species. Probably waiting for the buddleia to flower. I did get a small tortoiseshell at the weekend. Not a rarity but all are welcome!

We see quite a lot of orange tip butterflies in our garden. The most prevalent ones at present are large whites.

I saw one last year - I had to google to find out what it was!

I had one on the valerian on my patio in Cornwall this week.

We used to see these orange tip whites in the garden quite regularly many years ago but haven’t seen one for ages. Lucky you!

there was a white butterfly in my garden this morning, not the usual white, this one had an orange tinge on the tips of it's wings, and in all my 80 years ,I have never seen one like this. I googled it ,and it says it's a male orange tip...
